Poppy Circle members met for their year end May meeting and plant swap at the home of Annette Flournoy. Members were treated to a tour of her lovely back yard and plant samples/cuttings from her extensive collection to take home. Members of the Quincy Garden Club recently trimmed grasses and replaced flowers in beds on the Courthouse Square. They also planted two Chinese Fringe trees in honor of National Arbor Day observed Friday, April 24th.

Amaryllis Circle members met recently for their April meeting in the studio space on the grounds of the Quincy Garden Center. Members were treated to an informative presentation on orchids by their fellow circle member, Carol. Poppy Circle members met on St Patty’s Day Eve for their March meeting in the studio space on the grounds of the Quincy Garden Center. Members were treated to a VERY informative presentation on orchids by Amaryllis Circle Member Carol and her daughter Erin. The Quincy Garden Club Amaryllis Circle met today for their monthly meeting at a member’s home. They explored container gardening and created individual take home treasures. Quincy Garden Club Members gathered for their Annual Conservation Meeting & Chili Supper at the Quincy Garden Center. The Amaryllis and Poppy Circles meet jointly several times throughout the club year, which runs from September through May. The guest speaker of the evening was Danielle Williams, who is the UF/IFAS Multi-County Commercial Horticulture/Citrus Agent for Gadsden and surrounding counties in the Panhandle. She provided insightful information regarding citrus trees and how they respond to freezing conditions.

Members of the Quincy Garden Club Amaryllis Circle met recently for their January meeting at the Bear Creek Educational Forest Center in Quincy. Charlie Maynard and the on-site Forest Ranger gave a presentation to the group about the history of the Bear Creek area near Lake Talquin, as well as informing them of the native plants which can be found on the trails of the forest. The ladies also learned about all the incredible education programs and projects at the Bear Creek Educational Forest.
