Bergen will be taking on an inaugural curatorial role as we launch what we hope to be a monthly evening of adventure sports films. Interested in curating?? Bergen has a special evening planned out for y’all, featuring his all time favorite surf flick and its cold water sequel, filmed just around the corner off of Vancouver Island. If any of you core lords out there can guess the films based off of this hint and photos, Berg will buy you a drink of your choice at the screening!

Hint: From Huntington Beach to remote Indonesia to remote Canada; dirtbag surf travel; diy home video; brain eating staph infection. DM to be considered😎

Join us for our first swing dance night on Saturday, January 10th! Haven’t tried it yet..? Do not fear! There will be a 6:30pm lesson led by Peter Flahiff. Open dance starts at 7:30pm, hosted by Mr. Jonathan Doyle. $20 advance tickets and $25 at doors. All ages and family friendly. Yeeheww!

Join us for New Year’s Day brunch with ! The Lantern bar will be serving mimosas, espresso, hot cocoa, and more! Enjoy live music featuring several local singer songwriters, including Quilcene’s own Austin Davis. 10am — 2pm. Suggested $5 - $10 donation for artists. Party on!

The QL is so excited to host: How to Build the Home you Leave on Sunday, December 7th!!!

“How to build the home you leave” is a music / performance show featuring Rae Williams (Hill Country, TX), Ellie Baird (LaGrange, IL), and Cosmo Rapaport (Duxbury, VT)and special guest Ben Starflower (Duvall, WA). This collaboration invites audiences to join our collective stories about home, selfhood, and community. This evening weaves together poignant songwriting, poetic scenic soundscapes, and choreographed movement scores. Through individual storytelling and working as an ensemble the four of us build the architecture of familiar for others to perhaps glance into internal landscapes of dreaming, belonging, and homecoming.

This show is about 80 minutes long

Doors for the show will open at 6:30pm and the show will begin at 7pm

Welp! We weren’t sure this one was going to happen but are so excited that IT’S ON!! Your favorite string band heart throbs are putting on Thanksgiving Leftovers H***y Tonk round #2 at Quilcene Lantern. Dance off that holiday meal and make room for leftovers at the QL on Saturday, November 29. Doors at 6pm, music at 7pm. $10-15 at doors. Advance tickets available as well.

Don’t miss Holiday Karaoke with Jonas Myers and live band on Saturday, December 6th! Karaoke, singalongs, and dancing will fill the evening! We can even microwave your glass of wine and sprinkle some cinnamon on top… Call it a mulled wine! Why not?? $5 - 15 suggested donation at doors, no advance tickets. Doors at 6p, music at 7p. All ages.

WEEKEND HAS ARRIVED! This wonderful Olympia-based troupe is performing their original giant puppet theater production, “Night at the Grand Opera for three days in a row (Oct. 31, Nov 1, and Nov 2)!!! Right now, as our beloved meta algorithm disseminates this post, String & Shadow is converting the barn and milk shed into an old opera house with elaborate decorations.. We can’t wait to see the transformation!

Remember to dress for the opera AND dress warmly/bring blankets because the performance will be taking place in the uninsulated and unheated barn, for what will be our last big barn event of 2025 🥲

We are so excited for this weekend, not only for String & Shadow, but for all of the amazing events happening around town! We can feel the holiday excitement and we love it. The Lantern is grateful to be apart of this vibrant arts community and can’t wait to see all the photos/videos from the weekend 🧡🖤🧡🖤

About the show:

(Running Time: 80 minutes)
Set in an old European opera house during the golden age of Grand Opera, “Night at the Grand Opera” is a frenzied romp through a candlelit night at the Opera. Rococo extravagance is fashioned with elaborate cardboard sets that collapse and unfold to reveal the many great dramas of the opera house (not all of which happen on stage.) Love triangles, converging revolutionary plots, art-loving flies and disaffected vermin are brought to life with cardboard and paper-mache.

A limited amount of pay-what-you-can tickets will be available at doors!

Don’t miss at The Lantern this coming weekend! Their original giant puppet production, Night at the Grand Opera will be performed three times (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) so there is plenty of opportunity to catch this one of a kind creation 🎭🕯️🦋🕸️🐛 NOTE: remember to dress for the opera and make sure to dress warm! The production will take place in the big barn that is unheated and uninsulated. Feel free to bring your own blanket!Tickets available via our bio or our website.
