We are proud to announce that Greater Good Events is now officially certified as a Women-Owned Business Enterprise (WBE) through the NYC Department of Small Business Services.

This certification formally recognizes Greater Good Events as a women-owned business, and it also reflects the values that have shaped our work from the start: building inclusive spaces, supporting mission-driven organizations, and creating events that bring communities together for the greater good.

As a women-owned event planning company, we’re honored to be part of this network of businesses working to strengthen opportunities for entrepreneurs and partners across New York City and beyond.

Over the past few years, we have been building something that feels equal parts heart and strategy: Greater Good Events, a women-owned, sustainability-focused event planning company committed to designing gatherings that reflect the values of the people and organizations behind them.

Lately, so many of the nonprofits and mission-driven teams we work with are facing painful trade-offs as the result of federal funding cuts and policy decisions that have pulled resources away from essential work. Budgets are tighter. Capacity is stretched thin. And still, the need to gather, connect, and galvanize community hasn’t gone away.

That’s why we’re rolling out something new:
✨ a la carte event services — flexible, lower-cost support designed to meet folks exactly where they are.

It’s for the teams that just need help with hotel sourcing. Or guest registration. Or onsite support for a retreat they’re coordinating on the fly. No full planning package required. Just thoughtful, intentional partnership that gets you where you need to go.

We created this because we believe in the work our clients and community members are doing, and because we want to make sure event support is accessible even in hard seasons.

Take a look at what’s new at the link in our bio!

In case you didn't know where we stand as a business and as business owners, let us be abundantly clear...

What is happening right now in our country is terrifying - masked thugs kidnapping and murdering people regardless of their citizenship or immigration status. As a practice, we seek to consider safety on a community-wide level at events. It's not law enforcement that protects us, it's our community and connections that keep us safe.

And just to note, masked federal agents isn't the first time police have brutalized communities. As long as there has been law enforcement, communities and particularly marginalized folks in those communities, have been harassed, harmed, tortured, tormented and killed. Black folks, Indigenous folks, Trans folks and more have been ringing these alarm bells for a *very long time.* If you're not listening now, I'm not sure what else needs to happen for you to tune in and center yourself in solidarity with the most marginalized and vulnerable in your community (and beyond)

We implore you to take some action to keep your community safe. We've gathered some dispatches from folks in Minnesota (as well as other resources we regularly turn to to learn), we're having some private conversations with partners and pals, we invite you to listen, learn, and take meaningful action to keep each other safe.

If you have resources to share, drop them here or send a DM and we'll add them to our webpage for others to access. https://www.greatergoodevents.co/moments/we-keep-us-safe

We’ve shared a bit about our work with the National Network of Abortion Funds before, and this feels like a continuation of that story.

Summit 2025 was a gathering of regional abortion fund members rooted in movement-building, artistic expression, skill-sharing, and collective care. It was a reminder that convening—especially in moments of grief, rage, and joy—is not extra. It’s essential.
We’re deeply grateful to the artist-activists-in-residence, Sam Rise and Mariah Parker (raraforliberation), whose work helped hold and transform the room, and to the magic-makers Laura, Prosper, Tiffany, Graciela, and Nicole for trusting us and bringing us into this space.

Huge love to our Greater Good team collaborators—Margaret, Mac, Angeles, Mireya, Trasonia, Kennedy, and Jodi—for shaping this with so much care.
Gatherings are our resistance. And we’re honored to help make them possible.

✨ Support abortion funds and the organizers doing this work.

We’ve added a link in our bio to support NNAF and local abortion funds—because care is the work.

We heard 2026 is the new 2016.

In 2016, Greater Good Events Managing Partner Maryam was stepping into grad school at Columbia, building corporate partnerships, leading volunteer events for hundreds (and thousands) of employees, and organizing moments of connection, such as a trip to the White House with community partners.

A lot may look different now, but our values haven’t changed. We’re still committed to helping every event reach its fullest potential while focusing on creative ex*****on rooted in intersectional sustainability, community impact, and care.

Over the past two years, we’ve been able to work with on five of their in-person events - two Internal Staff Meetings in Philadelphia and Los Angeles, two Regional Gatherings of their members in Seattle and Philadelphia, and a large Member Summit in Denver!

Through the breadth and depth of our work together, our NNAF colleagues have become friends, comrades, and co-conspirators. We’ve described this client as a “mountaintop” client - not just because we feel grateful to support their organization’s important work, but also because they are KIND, thoughtful collaborators who center care in their work, invite us into the process wholly, and challenge us to show up for ourselves as part of the planning team as much as we show up for them as their vendor partners. When they plan events, they go above and beyond to make sure that their attendees are not only physically safe and cared for, but also psychologically and emotionally as comfortable as possible so they can participate fully in the program. As collaborators, it’s a treat to help them create such thoughtfully executed events.

In the midst of abortion protections being stripped and reproductive rights treated as threat throughout the US, the team at has evolved and continued their work funding abortion and building power through their member organizations - nearly 100 local abortion funds throughout the US.

Today we’re sharing photos from the 2025 staff meeting we worked on with . More photos from their network gatherings are incoming!

Big thanks to , Lee, .pisces and all of those we’ve had the privilege of working alongside at NNAF for trusting us and being incredible partners in this work!

The kids are alright.

In 2019 I (Maryam, co-owner of .events) had the pleasure of planning the Gala and in doing so, helping support a cohort of Empower Players - young movers and shakers who were showing that age isn’t a meaningful gauge of your capacity for change.

The class included amazing young people like Mari Copeny (aka ) who, starting at age 8, began campaigning to get clean water to the residents of Flint, MI; Xiuhtezcatl Martinez () a climate activist and artist who at age 9 lobbied to restrict the use of pesticides in his local parks and
won; and Deja Foxx () who  at the age of 17 stood up to Jeff Flake at a town hall meeting to advocate for continued funding for Planned Parenthood.

6 years later all these amazing activists (just a few from the 2019 cohort are named here) are making waves and continuing to advocate for a future that benefits everyone. Now Deja is running for Congress in her home state of Arizona - please consider giving a follow and donating to this incredible young woman’s campaign to be one of (the?) youngest congressional reps ever.

And you might be asking yourself why an event planning company is posting about a local congressional race in AZ? Because this event planning company believes every person deserves access to dignified housing and healthcare; that voices like Deja’s will advance a world that our own children (biological and bonus) will thrive in; and that literally every move we make is political. We are so very proud to work alongside orgs and activists advancing access to healthcare ; safe and equitable housing ; and thoughtful stewardship of the outdoors (amongst others).

As we transition through the winter solstice and into the new year, we sit with conflict… between the joy of celebrating with loved ones; the heartbreak of observing the relentless devastation and dehumanization of lives and livelihoods in Palestine; the privilege of knowing where home is and consistency of knowing we are safe in our spaces; the gratitude for our communities of collaborators, clients, friends and families; the guilt and fury of helplessness and loss…

And even in conflict we hold closely our belief that a better world is possible. We anchor this belief in our witness of persistence and faith we see around communities near and far who use their voices to stand up for better futures. We anchor this belief in an abundance and celebration of gratitude—for the clients who trust us to plan their celebrations and convenings; the vendors who work alongside us in thoughtful collaboration and trust us enough to refer clients our way; the contractors and team members who give their best so our gatherings shine as bright as their hosts; and the extended community, including family and friends, who support us through the ups and downs of each day and year.

So, as this year ends, we bring to all of you a wish for joy that extends beyond borders and barriers, seen and unseen. We look to Audre Lorde who captures our wishes for the new year perfectly - “Tomorrow belongs to those of us who conceive of it as belonging to everyone; who lend the best of ourselves to it, and with joy.”

With hope, gratitude and joy, Happy New Year - Maryam and Justine

is near and dear to our hearts. So when we were invited to plan their 2023 Gala, we were over the moon.

The event itself was all about celebrating the incredible year-round community of artists, educators, youth, and collaborators who make the magic of Socrates come to life. This year we felt grateful to be able to honor a few select partners who really embody Socrates’ commitment to public art - ’s Creative Arts Program for their incredible work; Socrates Board Member and SpaceTime guru ; and artist and activist .

This year, the event was held in the private studio of - an incredible gift and gorgeous location to welcome Socrates’ community of supporters. We really wanted to make sure our vendor partnerships really reflected the local community. So in addition to collaborating with their existing vendor partners ( and ), we brought in a few locals too.

That included a cocktail bar hosted by - who custom crafted several delicious libations for our guests. All our beer generously contributed by local favorite . gave us a great deal on all the wine for the event. donated craft liquors for our guests to enjoy. Thanks to , we had some non-alcoholic beers available for guests. And created some perfect custom cookies too!

Entertainment was provided by and local favorite had the dance floor grooving. Florals were crafted by . Friends from were onsite to provide tarot readings.

Additional details included: an ice sculpture by ; paper goods designed by .design.work and ; AV by ; and photography by Queens-based .

The 2023 gala was an incredible celebration of art, public spaces, and our diverse and generous community in Western Queens. Thank you Socrates for inviting .events to be your partners in the planning process!

We were lucky enough to collaborate with on the 2022 North America Pro Bono Summit. This was a fun opportunity for Co-Owner to circle back to her first career in and . We worked with Taproot to design a content architecture and sessions plan for the Summit - identifying session topics, sourcing speakers, and managing presentation development - in order to bring a robust agenda to engage their audience of corporate practitioners, nonprofit leaders, and volunteers - and advance the practice of .

In addition to content-related work, managed all the logistics related to the two-day hybrid Summit including venue sourcing, participant communications and registration management, and all onsite logistics planning and management.

We’re excited to be invited back to work with Taproot on next year’s Summit as well! Photos by
