We were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of pianist, composer, and bandleader Eddie Palmieri yesterday.

In February of 2024, Mr. Palmieri graciously agreed to participate in the Purchase College, SUNY Latin Jazz Festival that took place here at The Purchase PAC. While he was no longer performing at the time, he jammed with our student participants, acted as one of the festival judges offering advice and guidance, and warmly greeted the audience that had turned out to pay tribute to him. A true believer in music's ability to reach across cultures and generations, Mr. Palmieri's joy and love of his art were infectious. We are proud to call him a member of our creative community. RIP.
