2021 Leesburg Bakers Dozen
Is a No-Go

After much deliberation, we have decided that we will not be doing this race for spring 2021. This was a tough call to make, we all look forward to the race every year. This year there are too many uncertainties with COVID-19, and with it affecting how my kids schools are operating, I cannot commit to the time needed to prepare for a race.

Quarantine Story Time: Bakers Dozen Edition

I don't know about you, but my Facebook Memories have been flooded with Bakers Dozen pics over the last couple of weeks! Since we are not having the race this year, let's share stories from past years. Share a story in the comments of the good, the bad, the muddy! Bonus points for great pics. Take a few minutes to go through old pictures and think about races you've done, and share a story!

I'll start- Look at what I found hiding in a file box, the flyer from the first Bakers Dozen in 2007! Check out the categories: Solo Male, Solo Female, Solo SS Male, Solo SS Female, Duo Male, Duo Open, and 3 Person Open. Think about how many categories we've added as we've grown since then!

1:00 is the end time, please plan to have your ride completed by then. Thank you! We are looking forward to a great race!

Your mountain bike might be a vintage bike if…

-You used to ride it when you had long hair in the back and really short hair in the front

-It was at least two years old when we started the Leesburg Bakers Dozen race in 2007

-You rode it during the last presidential impeachment

-The wheels are only 26”

-The most used tools in your toolbox are cone wrenches

-It was the bike you were riding back in the day when Lance was still winning the Tour de France and we all still thought it was legit

-You have a hard time getting parts for it nowadays because they just don’t make those parts anymore

We are excited about Half Baked on April 25, check out the details on BikeReg. A couple of highlights—We are starting race day at 12:30 pm so that you can still get in a night lap or two. New and updated categories, only solos or two person teams this year due to the shorter day.

Thanks for the all the efforts into making Baker's Dozen the best it could be under the circumstances. I would love to see another event at the farm this year under better conditions. Such a shame to not experience that course at it's fastest and flowiest! All in to race again! 😀
Anyone need a spot in the race Saturday?
I have a potential junior cat racer who turns 18 on 4/14. Is the 17 age restriction, age on Jan 1, 2017 or otherwise.
The price for the jr 3 person team is very high, for juniors. Needs to be lower to encourage youth racing.

Were there any other photographers out there who haven't posted up their pix? I know someone got a few shots of me boosting a big rock out there on Saturday (and cheered) but I don't know who it was and haven't seen any images yet.
From 5 years ago racing in the juniors race, to racing with the big boys saturday. Thanks for helping to create the mountain biker he is today....
