Last month I went to the Provo Airport to shoot some planes taking off, and this was the view behind me — a brilliant mixture of blue and gold. Worth capturing.

Last summer I went with my family to Havasupai and spent an evening with my dad and cousin .and.adams photographing this beautiful landmark. It was my cousin’s suggestion to get the tree in the foreground, which made for a great composition. I put the camera on a 10-second timer, ran a few yards off, and used a headlamp to light paint the tree and the falls. I love the end result. Canon 80D, Sigma 18-35 f/1.8 , ISO 2500, 25 seconds exposure. .arizona

I took advantage of the holiday to explore Rock Canyon. After walking a ways, I found lots of green moss which made for a good photo. I used a circular polarizer, which greatly reduced reflections and made the colors more vivid. I documented the trip, which you can see here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=voHT5T759No Shot on the Canon 80D, Canon 10-18mm lens, f/14, ISO 100, 1.6 second exposure.

I went up Provo Canyon yesterday in search of a good composition and managed to find some some good looking landscapes. I love taking shots with water because they benefit from long exposures and look a bit surreal. I also made a short video to document the trip! The link is in the description. Shot on the Canon 80D, Canon 10-18mm lens. Shot at f/18, ISO 100, 8-seconds exposure.

This is by far one of my favorite photos I've ever taken. I took this in the summer, and woke up at 4:30 to be there in time for the sunrise. This picture really happened by accident -- it was only after several disappointing shots that I noticed the sun rays peeking from behind the steeple. It was literally a matter of about 15 seconds between pictures that made the difference with the sun peeking behind the steeple just right. If you look to the left, you'll see the Y on the mountain, representing Brigham Young University. Camera: Canon t3i. Lens: 50mm 1.8.

Another night shot from Provo Canyon. This was the first time I had really tried photographing the stars with minimal light pollution by driving into the canyon and away from the city. The trees were illuminated by a light from a nearby pavilion, which worked out quite nicely. Camera: Canon 80D. Lens: Canon 10-18mm. Shutter: 25 seconds, ISO 10000 f/4.5.

Last night the sky was nice and clear. After taking a few shots with my wide angle lens, I put on my 50mm lens and got this shot. As I applied a dehazing filter, the purple color started to show up, which I decided to bring out a little more for the final look. Camera: Canon 80D. Lens: 50mm STM. 10 sec., ISO 10000, f/2.0

Last night's view of Mt Timpanogos. I can't believe how much snow Timp has on it this early in the season! If you look to the lower left, you'll see the bell tower. To the lower right, Heritage Halls. Camera: Canon 80D. Lens: 50mm STM. F/8.0, 1/10 sec, ISO 100.

A shot of the rain last night. The backlighting was provided by passing cars. I over-adjusted the white balance to make it blue, then over-applied noise reduction to make it look a bit surrealistic. Camera: Canon 80D. Lens: 50mm 1.8 STM. ISO 6400 Shutter Speed: 1/160

Another one of Stewart Falls. When I put my camera away after this shot I lost my tripod-camera mount adapter in the water. Good thing I had a backup! Camera: Canon 80D. Lens: Canon 10-18mm. Shot at f/16, ISO 100, shutter speed: 1.3 seconds.

Stewart Falls near Aspen Grove in Utah. I went hiking wth a few friends and they were kind enough to stick around while I spent a good 45 minutes or so finding different angles to photograph the falls. Camera: Canon 80D. Lens: Canon 10-18mm. Shot at f/8, 25 second exposure, ISO 400 with 10 stop ND filter.
