There was A LOT of scheming behind this proposal. 😂💍

What you see here is a deliriously happy girl at Beavertail Lighthouse, completely swept up in the moment.

What you DON’T see is the small-scale covert operation happening behind the scenes.

There I was, casually hanging around with two cameras and a giant bouquet of flowers, pretending to be a totally normal photographer. Meanwhile, my videographer Blaze was strategically positioned, along with her boyfriend, who was on social-media duty. We had locations. We had a plan. We had backup plans. Basically, we were one trench coat away from being a very poorly organized spy agency.

And then came the microphone.

We needed to get a mic onto Jim’s jacket without her noticing. So when Jim came over and asked us to take a photo of them with their cell phone, I immediately pointed toward their picnic basket and started steering her back in that direction — because obviously the picnic basket was suddenly VERY important. 😂

While I distracted her, Blaze swooped in and got the microphone where it needed to be.

Operation: Don’t Let Her Know was a success.

Or so we thought.

Because after all the dreaming, scheming, strategic positioning, secret microphones, giant bouquets, two cameras, video, social media coverage and general levels of ridiculousness…

SHE KNEW.

Not only did she know, but she had apparently been preparing for this moment too — and had written a letter to read to Jim.

So while we thought we were pulling off the ultimate surprise, she had already figured us all out and came prepared with her own little plot twist. ❤️

And honestly?

Her reaction was still absolutely everything.
