Dear Vendor,

Vendor applications are now open for Blackbeard’s Freak Show Festival 2026, taking place September 2–7 at Vermont Freedom Campground in Greensboro Bend, Vermont.

This is not a standard vendor market.

Blackbeard’s Freak Show Festival is a dark carnival, campground gathering, and strange little world built for the bold, the beautiful, the abnormal, the curious, the q***r, the wicked, the wild, and the ones who never quite fit anywhere else.

For one long Labor Day weekend, guests come to Vermont to camp, swim, gather, watch sideshow and burlesque, dance after dark, meet new people, and step fully into a world where self-expression is not only welcomed, it is expected.

We are now building the Vendor Village for this year’s festival.

We are looking for independent artists, makers, merchants, collectors, designers, creators, and strange little shops that belong on the Midway. If your booth feels like something guests should stumble upon by lantern light, we want to hear from you.

We are especially interested in vendors offering:

Alternative, gothic, punk, q***r, or festival merchandise
Handmade art, crafts, jewelry, and accessories
Clothing, costumes, masks, and adornments
Leather goods, fe**sh gear, and adult-oriented products
Oddities, curiosities, bones, specimens, and strange collectibles
Dark art, prints, ritual objects, and unusual home goods
Body-positive, sex-positive, and self-expression-focused products
Anything beautiful, bizarre, handmade, theatrical, or impossible to ignore

The festival takes place at Vermont Freedom Campground, a clothing-optional campground with camping accommodations, a heated swimming pool, hot tubs, and a full weekend of performances, workshops, parties, and community experiences. Guests remain on-site throughout the festival, which gives vendors repeated opportunities to connect with attendees rather than relying on a single short vending window.

Vendor spaces are available in both Full Festival and Weekend options.

10x10 Full Festival Vendor Space: $450
Includes two full festival vendor passes and camping access.

10x20 Full Festival Vendor Space: $650
Includes two full festival vendor passes and camping access.

Weekend Vendor Spaces
September 4–7, 2026

10x10 Weekend Vendor Space: $325
Includes two weekend vendor passes and camping access.

10x20 Weekend Vendor Space: $475
Includes two weekend vendor passes and camping access.

Additional helper passes are available at a discounted rate with advance approval:

Additional Full Festival Helper Pass: $175
Additional Weekend Helper Pass: $125

Each vendor space includes power access. Vendors are responsible for bringing their own extension cords, power strips, lighting, and any equipment needed for their booth setup.

Please note that Vermont Freedom Campground is in a remote location. Internet and cell service are not reliable at camp. Vendors should plan accordingly and be prepared to process sales offline if needed.

Vendors should provide their own tent, tables, chairs, lighting, signage, display materials, extension cords, and booth setup supplies. Tent staking is permitted, and vendors may stake their tents down securely.

Vendors are allowed to camp behind their vending tent. Vehicle parking directly behind the vending tent may or may not be possible depending on final layout and campground conditions, but vendor parking will be located close by.

Vendor spaces are limited. We expect to accept approximately 10 to 12 vendors this year in order to keep the Vendor Village strong, varied, and worthwhile for both guests and vendors.

Applications will be reviewed based on product fit, quality, variety, presentation, and alignment with the spirit of the festival. This is a curated vendor village, not a first-come-first-served flea market.

Once accepted, vendors will receive payment instructions and additional setup details. Vendor space is not confirmed until payment is received.

We are building something stranger, bolder, and more alive than a normal festival marketplace. We are building a Midway.

This may be my favorite photo from Pride.

Not the float.

Not the costumes.

Not the parade.

This.

After months of planning, a week of building, a full day of marching, and more emotions than I could count, it was finally over.

The float was dismantled.

The work was done.

The crowd had gone home.

I realized I hadn’t eaten all day.

So I kicked off my sandals, sat down in the middle of the street, found a bag of Cheez-Its, and proceeded to eat them like a man who had just survived a shipwreck.

My friends were laughing.

I was exhausted.

And for the first time all day, I wasn’t thinking about what still needed to be done.

I was just sitting there, surrounded by people I care about, feeling proud of what we had accomplished together.

Most people see the parade.

They see the costumes, the music, the spectacle, and the photos.

What they don’t see are the hundreds of hours, the late nights, the stress, the uncertainty, the problem solving, and the work that goes into bringing a dream to life.

Sometimes the reward isn’t a trophy.

Sometimes it’s sitting barefoot on the pavement, eating Cheez-Its, surrounded by your people, knowing it was all worth it.

Some of the best memories are not the overproduced ones.

They’re the simple ones.

A campground crawl.

A potluck dish on a folding table.

Music in the barn.

A bonfire.

Someone’s campsite decorated way beyond reason.

A drink in your hand.

A friend you didn’t know you needed yet.

That was the feeling of July 4th weekend at Vermont Freedom Campground last year, and I want more of that this year.

And for anyone who has never been: Vermont Freedom Campground is clothing optional, which means you get to be comfortable in your own skin, literally or otherwise. No pressure. No performance. Just come as much of yourself as you’re ready to be.

I’ll be there. I’m going all out on my campsite for the crawl and the decorating contest, and I would love to have my chosen family there with me.
