❤️🖤💚 Happy Juneteenth! 💚🖤❤️

Today, we honor the resilience, strength, and enduring legacy of those who fought for freedom and justice. Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865—the day the last enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas learned of their freedom, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.

As we celebrate this important day, let us reflect on our shared history, uplift Black voices, celebrate Black culture, and continue working toward a more just and equitable future.

May we never forget the sacrifices of those who came before us and remain committed to building stronger communities for generations to come.

Happy Juneteenth from the Providence, KY Memorial Day Celebration Committee.

To know where you’re going, you have to know where you’ve come from! So, with that, we believe in paying homage and giving flowers to those who played a significant role in our celebrations.

We were very grateful to have Mr. Tom Glover, Mayor of Providence, join us during our Reflections event and present a proclamation to Ms. Myra Belle for her dedicated years of service, support and love she poured into the Providence Memorial Day Weekend celebration and community. A special day was dedicated to her and we appreciate all she has done over the years.

Although she was unable to join us, we thank Mr. Wayne Belle who was able to join and accept the honor on her behalf. Ms. Myra’s impact will never go unnoticed and we hope it sparks a flame in others to want to give back as well.
