The whiskey has a mix of sweet and spicy flavors, with hints of vanilla, caramel, pepper, and cinnamon. It’s strong but not too overpowering. There are also subtle notes of butterscotch and custard, making it smell rich and full-bodied. On the palate, you’ll notice a lot of cinnamon and spice, which might be a bit intense for some people. It finishes with a dry, oaky flavor with a lot of spice, as you would expect from a barrel-strength bourbon.
When a popular brand comes out with a stronger version of their regular product, it gets a lot of attention. People often think that the higher alcohol content in these “barrel strength” versions means better flavor. But that’s not always true. However, this new release is really impressive. There are four different barrels to choose from, and they picked a fantastic one. Considering the price, it’s a great value. Bottled at 104 Proof, it’s delicious on its own and can also take any cocktail to the next level without being too overpowering.
