The Prescott Frontier Days Foundation is helping preserve the history and spirit of the World’s Oldest Rodeo while giving back to the community. In this episode of the Ride With Us podcast, Greg Mengarelli talks with Jack Berry and Stuart Rosebrook. About rodeo traditions, volunteer opportunities, scholarships, and community support programs. They also share personal stories and memories that show why the Prescott rodeo remains such an important part of Arizona history.

The conversation also highlights the upcoming America 250 celebration. Also, how Prescott Frontier Days will honor the nation’s 250th anniversary during the 2026 rodeo season. In addition, listeners learn about the Prescott Frontier Days Foundation art auction, the “100 Men Who Care” fundraiser, and efforts to preserve Western heritage through Charlotte Hall Museum. As a result, the episode gives listeners a deeper look at how rodeo culture continues to shape the Prescott community.

Looking for WOR Old Timers, Honorary Champions, and Rodeo Queens of the 6’s

Prescott Frontier Days®, Inc. is honored to welcome Justin and Sarah Sunbury, who have graciously stepped up and offered to run our Old Timers Reunion! This event is a traditional highlight of the World's Oldest Rodeo® week, which runs from June 29 through July 5, 2026.

This year we will be trying something new! We are inviting old timers (anyone who competed in the Prescott Rodeo), honorary champions, and rodeo queens of the 6's.

Anyone who won at the Prescott rodeo in any year ending in 6 will be honored and recognized during the lunch and Sunday matinee rodeo performance on July 5th.

Date: Sunday, July 5 th , 2026
Time: Doors open at 11:30 am; lunch is from 12:00 to 1:00 pm; rodeo is 1:30 pm
Place: Prescott Frontier Days
Freeman Building
840 Rodeo Drive,
Price: No cost for lunch to old timer/champion and 1 guest; option to buy
additional rodeo ticket for $40

The Old Timers Reunion was created in 1983 by World’s Oldest Rodeo legend Danny Freeman to honor and recognize former champions and royalty during one performance of the rodeo. Old Timers were defined as cowboys who competed at the Prescott rodeo in the 1920s, 30s, and 40s. The first year it was limited to those who lived in Yavapai County or close by in Wickenburg or New River. Eleven came and enjoyed themselves and spread the word around, five years later twenty-six showed in 1987. In 1988 the invitation was opened to the world if they participated in the Prescott rodeo with an original cutoff date of 1950. The list started from known contestants to over a hundred names; the current requirements are the contestants must have participated in the Prescott rodeo forty years or more in the past.

If you were a competitor in the Prescott rodeo or won during the years ending in 6's (1956, 1966, 1976, 86, 96, 06, 16, 26) and have not received an email or mailed letter, please email Justin at [email protected]

What many people don’t see is how much our rodeo team gives back beyond the arena gates. Every year, we proudly support the Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund, helping raise money for injured rodeo athletes and their families across the world. Giving back has always been at the heart of what we do, and we truly believe in lending a helping hand whenever it’s needed. Rodeo is more than a sport to us, it’s a family, and families take care of one another.

Partners in the Arena 🤠

Meet the World’s Oldest Rodeo® — Prescott Frontier Days®.

Prescott Frontier Days has been a longtime supporter of the Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund, consistently stepping up to support our auctions, initiatives, and injured rodeo athletes. Their committee, volunteers, and community continue to give back in meaningful ways, including hosting the annual Whiskey, Women and Wine event during their Fourth of July rodeo festivities.

A big thank you to Prescott Frontier Days and everyone who helps make their support possible.

Be sure to check out the World’s Oldest Rodeo® in Prescott, Arizona, this summer!
