REST IN PEACE, DOLLY PARTON — (1946 - 2026)

Today, the country music world has lost one of its brightest lights.
The Michigan Country Music Hall of Fame extends our deepest condolences, thoughts, and prayers to the family, friends, fellow musicians, and millions of fans around the world mourning the passing of the incomparable Dolly Parton.

Dolly was so much more than a country music superstar. She was a songwriter, storyteller, entertainer, philanthropist, and an inspiration whose music crossed generations and touched hearts around the world. From “Jolene” and “Coat of Many Colors” to “9 to 5” and “I Will Always Love You,” her songs became part of the soundtrack of our lives.

Her influence on country music can never be measured simply by awards, record sales, or chart positions. Dolly represented the heart of country music — faith, family, humility, humor, perseverance, and never forgetting where you came from.

Today, Nashville is quieter. Country music has lost a legend. But the songs, the stories, the laughter, the generosity, and the incredible legacy of Dolly Parton will live forever.

From all of us at the Michigan Country Music Hall of Fame, may God comfort Dolly's family, friends, and fans during this incredibly difficult time.

🎸🏆 CONGRATULATIONS TO 2026 HALL OF FAMER PAUL FRANKLIN! 🏆🎸

The Michigan Country Music Hall of Fame is extremely proud to officially welcome legendary pedal steel guitarist Paul Franklin into the Hall of Fame as a member of the Class of 2026! 👏🎶

Paul Franklin's name is synonymous with some of the finest pedal steel guitar playing in country music. A native of Detroit, Michigan, Paul took his Michigan roots all the way to Nashville and became one of the most respected and sought-after musicians in the country music industry.

Throughout his remarkable career, Paul has recorded and performed with some of the biggest names in music, including George Strait, Alan Jackson, Vince Gill, Randy Travis, Mark Knopfler, Dire Straits, Barbara Mandrell, and many more.

He has spent decades helping create the sound behind countless recordings that country music fans know and love. Paul is also a longtime member of Nashville's legendary studio musician group The Time Jumpers and has earned tremendous respect among musicians worldwide for his mastery and innovation on the pedal steel guitar.

Today, Paul continues to take that unmistakable steel guitar sound to audiences around the world as a member of Chris Stapleton's touring band. 🎸🔥
