Taking place approximately 5:30-7:00am Saturday morning at Tropical 27-Year Hot Tub Oasis Retreat, this is actually the second part of my complete set, which started at 4:30am and spent 1 hour winding down from 132 BPM to 110 BPM before going ambient - the point at which is where this offering begins

Camp Dayfunk is a Minneapolis-based event in just its second year taking place 2 hours east in the Wisconsin Woods - and I enjoyed its quality, intimacy, and cute little camp touches immensely. Both this event and this set are very special to me

Ben Annand set off Camp DayFunk 2025 with a heady, deep, and impeccably crafted dance floor-first set that captured the tone for the entire weekend.

From the first beat, he pulled the crowd into a sound that felt both grounded and expansive, layering warm, textured elements with basslines that built steadily without ever rushing the moment.

There was a patience to his flow, a quiet confidence that allowed dancers to lose themselves in the space between the kick and the melody.

Equal parts meditative and body-moving, Ben’s set honored the spirit of the forest and the promise of the dance floor, weaving a sonic tapestry that felt ancient and new at once.

It was the perfect invocation, a chapter that reminded everyone why we gather together in the first place.

Reminder that I Can't Wait is a whisically presented new production brought to you by Kevin Davis, Jr, Ben Annand, and our birthday host, Candace Millard, aka the I Can't Wait team, at the very lovely Secret Grove venue at 1425 NW Flanders in Portland.

We are the impatient house movement and we are obsessed with time, alarm clocks, numbers generally, and being as silly as possible - except with musically because we secretly take our music really seriously.

Speaking of secrets, the location is also secret. Not as in you can't know, but the venue is actually called Secret Grove. So maybe we're obsessed with secrets too. We don't know. We just know that 5-15-25 can't come fast enough!

Distractions are helpful down the final stretch. Like you, we can't really think about anything but I can't wait and how terrible the wait is.

Did you know we are celebrating a birthday here? Candace has been waiting for this all year. Imagine her wait. It's at 364 days! What's one more?

Let's talk about how the night will go. Don't forget to set some alarms! Yes we are at that point :)

7-10 will be up first on the decks. Read that as 7:01 is one minute late please!

There is no penalty for being late but if you are, one of our team may be there with an amusing unsolicited comment about your tardiness. Or not, time will tell!

After 7-10 with no break at all it will be time for 10-1. It's an insignificant detail next to the times, but for those who really need to know, Kevin Davis Jr will be playing house music during 7-10, and Ben Annand will be playing house music during 10-1. The music will actually be very good! Expect some new tunes and some impatient house classics

At 1am it's all over and we all cry because we have to wait for the next one.

But let's not get ahead of ourselves!

Well since we have to wait (groan) let's at least fill in the space with some info on our headliners. Err headliner times that is!

Let's start with our first headliner time, 7 to 10. Remember that 7 to 10 will go on right at 7 so you don't want to miss that. In other words, don't be late! See the bottom of this post for info on setting alarms correctly ;)

7-10 is a really choice time for our Thursday early crowd. In general we recommend staying at the party til 1 because after that it's just a bunch of waiting for the next one. But invariably some of our guests mention leaving early because of work obligations Friday. For them, this is the most looked-forward-to set.

Ok yes there's even more to tell about our headlining time block.

It's 3 hours long and 3 of course is a love symbol.
