✨ Proposals: Small + Sweet or Big + Bold? ✨

Johnny and I were watching the Kelce brothers’ podcast with the QUEEN 👸🏼 HERSELF as a guest star… fast forward to Taylor dropping her engagement news on Instagram Aug. 26 and now we’re spiraling into full proposal chat mode. 💍

From private “just us” moments (like Johnny proposing on the Congress St. Bridge in Austin 🫶) to full-blown, can’t-miss, over-the-top productions—there’s no one way to do it.

Taylor and Travis has me thinking about Proposals!!!

I'm SO excited for the two of them... their proposal was PERFECTION... for them.

For someone like me....that may be a bit over the top.

Either way, she said YES, I said HELL YES.... and the proposal was perfect.

So proposals: crazy BIG... or crazy intimate? Lets rap!

Two things:

(1) I had four weddings and a bridal show last week... I'm not talking to annnnyone today.

(2) I don't do Mini Sessions.

Like at all.

The reasons are vast, but basically boil down to "I just don't like to" and that's okay!

Plenty of other badass photographers offer fantastic mini sessions. :-)

Now, if you're interested in either:
-A nerdy, 80s style, awkward family session
-A woodsy, autumn family session
-A beachy family session
-Urban headshots
-A senior session of any kind
-A maternity session of any kind

Only 2 requirements are you're in Maine and you're okay with being part of my advertising content....

FUN FACT Y'ALL! 🎉 I photographed OK Go at the The Granada Theater in Dallas 15 years ago.

Eons and eons ago, I was 25, photographing bands all over Texas, and somehow landed this awesome gig shooting for the Dallas Observer. (Yes, I had bangs. No, you cannot see them. 😂)

This was WAY before I actually knew what I was doing with photography… despite having a degree and 4 years of experience under my belt. Basically, I was faking it ‘til I made it—with a camera in one hand and a taco in the other. 🌮📸

But here’s the thing:
✨ It gave me a shot at building a badass portfolio
✨ I met people who are STILL my biggest cheerleaders (love y’all forever)
✨ I collected enough backstage stories to keep a campfire entertained for hours 🔥
✨ And it gave me the courage to move to Austin and actually make photography my full-time life

I LOVED that gig. Like, can-someone-please-hand-me-a-backstage-pass-again loved it. I seriously miss photographing musicians (so much so, I went and married one 🎸❤️).

Weddings built my home. Photographing musicians built my foundation.

So here’s a little walk down memory lane—early Caity photos of one of my FAVORITE bands. (Insert dramatic eyeliner and MySpace vibes here 🖤).

OK Go brought their particularly savvy sense of spectacle to the Granada Theater Tuesday night for a sold-out show. If you were lucky enough to get tickets, you saw the confetti explosion.

Snuggled my girls extra tight this week.

Watching the devastation unfold in Texas has left my heart cracked wide open. The images from the floods have been overwhelming, but so has the response from Texans — neighbors helping neighbors, strangers showing up for each other, and a kind of fierce, quiet love that reminds me of the Texas I was raised in.
The Texas where folks lend a hand without asking why. Where kindness isn’t performative, it’s instinct. Where people don’t just wave hello — they pull up a chair, offer you a plate, and call you family.

I know what some people think about Texas and Texans — I’m not expecting this to change anyone’s mind. But I hope it offered a glimpse of what we’re really about. The heart, the grit, the love.

So tonight, as you hug your babies tight, I hope you carry that image with you. I know I am. ❤️
