I spend most of my days doing some sort of planning on somebody’s wedding, and let me tell you, if you are doing it right - nothing you want is wrong for your wedding day.

I make a point of not telling you that you must do this or you have to do that. I will give you guidance or explain how we can make sure what you want can actually happen or how to stay on budget, or why a choice might be pleasant for your guests.

If you ask me - “Can we serve pizza and a taco bar, together at our wedding?” My answer will be, of course. If you have DIY projects you want incorporated into your design, we can do that. Your aunties want to do the flower bouquets, your renting a silk floral arch, but you want me to do centerpieces - no problem. You hate dancing and want to play table games instead - cool!

Even in a capitalist world, your wedding day isn’t about pleasing influencers on the internet. If you want the perfect dress for you because you saw it online that’s ok. If you make yourself wear something because you think you are supposed to - that’s awful.

If you hate the idea of flowers that die for thousands of dollars, you know you don’t have to incorporate a single flower in to your design if it just isn’t you? I’ve had couples play poker instead of focusing on dancing, I reassured the DJ at the end of the night that he was perfect - they enjoyed the music, he kept it at the right level, the couple did their first dance they wanted and they had their perfect night with nobody on the dance floor.

On another note this is one of my favorite songs and I’ve never had an excuse to use it - as a wedding planner and floral designer, so here’s my excuse: Ilike what I like. It doesn’t need to fit an industry norm, your wedding day will never be something I will plan hoping I can make it in an industry mag or blog.

It’s been a very busy season, but it’s time to slow down a little and enjoy looking back on this beautiful summer of love - starting with Bree and Tom! This was the hottest wedding of the year - literally, but thankfully provides safe places to cool down.

The joining of these beautiful people was so fun and sweet. While we worked on a very condensed timeline I still got to know these two well, it was an honor to meet such lovely humans who clearly bring joy to so many people’s world every day. 🩷🌻
