We have TWO featured artists for our upcoming show this June, and we’ve been eagerly anticipating the new collection of paintings by Mandy Arroyo featured in the front gallery.

Her solo exhibition, Place and Pattern, is inspired by her month-long residency in Portugal last October. With a background in graphic design and illustration, it’s understandable that pattern became a central focus throughout the trip. This collection draws inspiration from the rich history of tile design and architecture, as well as the patterns found in nature.

Each of the 30 new paintings and drawings “is a window into a memory, a snapshot in time… Together, these works explore the relationship between the built environment and natural landscapes while celebrating the delight of noticing details both big and small”.

Join us June 5th, 6–9pm, for a very summery opening with and . Drinks, music, good vibes, and a whole lot of great art. We can’t wait!

In addition to Mandy Arroyo’s solo show, Patterns and Places, opening in the front gallery next month, we’re excited to present the first solo exhibition in our back gallery featuring Anna Rogers

Presenting… MUSCLE BEACH

Built from painted woodcuts, the show is packed with cultural references best understood by someone who grew up in coastal California in the 90’s and 00’s. Anna is a no fuss artist: using clean lines and a limited color pallet her artwork communicates with humor, clarity and candor. To put it simply, She cuts, paints, and assembles with an ease that makes wielding a jigsaw look effortless….but you know it’s not (right? Cause its not!)

Join us June 5th, 6–9pm, for a very summery opening with both and . Drinks, music, good vibes and a whole lot of great art. And if rumors are true, you might expect popsicles.

5 Studies by Chris Sasaki (LAX)
Graphite on 9.5 × 7.25” sketch paper.

A series of intimate graphite studies that showcase Sasaki’s attentive observation and sensitivity to gesture, expression, and atmosphere. Even at a small scale, the works convey the quiet narrative quality present throughout his practice.

I’m a sucker for even a glimpse into an artist’s sketchbook; if you are too, these beautifully framed studies are available for purchase in the gallery and online — link in bio.

Just a few more weekends to catch this show. Here tonight til 8pm and again tomorrow, Sunday 2-6pm!

The loose textured details, the contrast and balance of color; the expression, hair color, the parka, the peak of a painting within a painting. It’s all so arresting and curious. That’s perhaps what I love most about portraiture: the way it invites you to meet someone new with little context beyond the clues surrounding them, offering glimpses of who they are, or who they might be.

Thanks to everyone who came out for the opening of PDX LAX last Friday. What a gorgeous evening of friends and art! This show is such a unique blend of illustrative styles, all circling a shared impulse: to observe, document, and honor the moments, the people and the places that make us feel at home.

Our two artists, Zachary Rau (PDX) and Chris Sasaki (LAX), approach this idea through their own distinct lenses and visual languages, creating a beautiful dialogue throughout the gallery. While captures the social fabric daily life, explores a stillness amid the urban rush, offering moments of pause among friends.

The show is up through May 31. If you missed the opening, there’s still time to experience it
