We’ve heard through the grapevine that some people think our flowers are “too expensive" and they should shop somewhere else for them!
I won’t throw names around...but you know who you are.
Here’s the thing people may not understand about small businesses like ours.
We do not buy flowers by the thousands like big box stores do. We pay more for our flowers, greenery, vases, baskets, ribbon, cards, supplies...everything. And yes, some of that cost has to be passed on.
But here’s what you get from a small business that you will never get from a big box store:
You get compassion.
You get people who know your name.
People who know what flowers your wife loves.
People who remember your anniversaries, funerals, birthdays, and hard seasons.
People who truly care about this community.
We donate when we can.
We support our schools, churches, benefits, and fundraisers whenever possible.
We work within a budget, but we always try our best to help.
What many people don’t know is this:
We have not raised our flower prices in 10 years.
Meanwhile, almost everything else in life has gone up 20% to 40%.
Ava and I are not here trying to become rich from flowers. Truthfully, neither one of us has taken a paycheck from Happy Bee in years. We do this because we love it. We love our town. We love our customers. We love creating something meaningful for people during important moments in their lives.
And flower arranging is so much more than “just flowers.”
When we create an arrangement, we carefully choose every flower, every piece of greenery, every vase or basket. We think about the person receiving it. We use fresh flower food, fresh greenery, hand-tied bows, enclosure cards, preservative spray, and quality supplies to help your flowers last weeks...not just days.
We even spend our own weekends shopping thrift stores and Goodwill for affordable vases and baskets so we can save YOU money instead of paying outrageous wholesale prices.
A wrapped rose from us is not “just a rose.”
It includes greenery, a water tube, wrapping, ribbon, time, care, and presentation.
Big box stores may sell cheaper flowers. But you are often buying flowers that have sat in plain water for days, with no care, no design, no personalization, and no one even greeting you when you walk in the door.
At Happy Bee Flowers, every customer matters to us.
You are not a number.
You are the reason we are still here.
Some days are slow. Some days are overwhelming. Some days we wonder how we’re still doing it. But every single day we unlock those doors grateful for every person who chooses to shop small and support us.
You may find some things cheaper elsewhere. That’s true.
But when you shop with us, you’re supporting two women who truly love this community and work hard every single day to serve it well.
And for that support, we will always be thankful. 🌻🐝
