Hi! This will be my last post on this page. 🥹 Furnish. Vintage Home Boutique was a beautiful journey. I traveled all over Florida and beyond picking up some of the most beautiful antique pieces. I met amazing people and ventured out into the world of small business. The business was legit. I created a logo. I built a website from scratch. I paid taxes😳. I even had a business bank account. So it is with a heavy heart that I close this chapter. I appreciate all the support I had along the way.
The piece I just posted is a furniture flip I did for my latest and last business venture. 🤞🏾I bought this Queen Victoria style China cabinet on Marketplace a few years back. It’s spray painted on the exterior with Coastal Sage and the interior is painted Heirloom White both by Rust-Oleum.
I kept the original hardware and cleaned by boiling them in hot water and vinegar for a long long time. Then, I scrubbed them to shining with #0000 steel wool. And, wahlah 🪄 I now have a bakery stand.

I actually had a lot of interest which was surprising because I’ve tried to sell similar mirrors with no luck. So, I was excited to sell these to a very nice woman who will appreciate them.

Since I am unpacking…very slowly. I thought I’d throw back to one of my painted pieces of vintage furniture.
At the time I was really shy about posting it. I was in a place mentally and emotionally after my grandmother passed away. I needed something to do. So, I painted.
I have painted and sold pieces in the past. For this vanity I wanted to push myself with the techniques I used.
My mother said, I would need to wait for the “right” buyer. I took that as code for “it’s ugly”.😁
And, although I listed it on Etsy and waited, the “right” buyer never came.
Sadly, when we moved I could not take it with me and I had to leave it behind. Even though it didn’t sell and I couldn’t take it with me, it will always be one of my most special projects.

This is a vintage piece that I found on Marketplace awhile back. It is a vintage Oriental 4-panel room divider. I used it as a headboard for my bed and now I am using it to divide the foyer and my office/library.
You can use dividers in a lot of ways in your home. I’ve also used this one as an artful “closet” to hide areas in the living room I did not want to be seen.
It is a hand painted nature scene of birds in the trees with another design on back. It is all wood and has stood the test of time as it is still beautifully stunning 🤩.
Dividers like these are sold in various designs and materials to suit your taste.

I am having so much fun decorating our new home! Come on in 😊

I wanted our space to represent and pay homage to the roots of our existence. My husband and I are both of African and Caribbean descent. While he is a city boy from Long Island, I am an island girl who grew up in Florida. His style is more chic and modern; and I’m more vintage tropical. 🌴

It should be interesting to see how our styles mix!

Whew! We are still in the process of moving to our fabulous “new to us”. We have been busy. All of my vintage stuff is in boxes so I won’t be selling anything for awhile. Instead help me decorate my new home with a mix of vintage and modern furniture and home decor!

Check out these hand woven basket from Senegal 🇸🇳! I love these because they are a stylish way to hide toys, blankets, clothes, whatever you like. Add them in a corner in your living room or bedroom for a fresh take on the bohemian vibe. You can find them online or at your local African art store. 😍
