Working at Lavender on the Lake is one of the reasons I love this market.

It is a venue that rewards the couples who come in prepared, with a coordinator who has built the relationships, planned the timeline, and handled the details that make the day feel as beautiful as the setting.

October is for once-in-a-lifetime moments, cherished traditions, timeless love, and all the little details that make a wedding feel like your own. ❤️✨

For this month’s Wedding Edition, we’re featuring this four-tier wedding cake created for a celebration at Stetson Mansion in Deland.

The design brought together white fondant, gold edible lace, red ribbon, rhinestone trim, gold dragees, a quilted bottom tier, and a double-heart topper. Each detail had its own moment, but together they created a look that felt elegant, romantic, and beautifully suited to the celebration. ✨🍰

That is one of the things we love most about custom wedding cakes. A design can begin with a color, a detail, or an idea, and slowly come together into something that feels personal to the couple and the day they are creating.

This cake became more than dessert. It became part of the setting, part of the photographs, and part of a moment worth remembering.

That is what this month’s edition is really about: the traditions, the details, and the meaningful touches that make each wedding feel unique.

Lavender on the Lake keeps coming up in my conversations with couples.

And I understand why. The setting is genuinely beautiful: the water, the landscape, the way the light moves through the property at different points in the day. It is the kind of venue that photographs exactly the way it looks in person, which is rarer than most couples realize.

What makes the difference is arriving with a coordinator who already knows how the day needs to move there. The vendor relationships, the timeline built around that specific property, the setup sequence that makes everything run without friction.

The bridal show was this weekend and it reminded me why I love this work.

This venue rewards preparation. The couples who have the most beautiful, most relaxed days there are the ones who arrived with a coordinator who had already done the work: the timeline built around the space, the vendors confirmed and briefed, the setup planned so the day moves without friction.

Booking season is the right time to ask the question most couples forget.

Not which coordinator has the prettiest Instagram. Not which one has the lowest price.

What does she do in the months before my wedding?

If the answer is vague, that is your answer.

Every wedding has a moment where something needs to be adjusted.

At this one, when those moments came, they were handled quickly, quietly, and with flexibility from every vendor in the room. Solutions were found before anyone had time to feel the problem. The couple never knew anything had shifted.

That is not a coincidence. That is what happens when the right vendors are in the room and the coordinator has built the kind of relationships where everyone is working toward the same outcome.

Every couple I work with comes in with a vision.

My job is to make sure that vision is what actually shows up on the wedding day, not a version of it, not an approximation of it, the real thing.

That requires knowing their contracts, their vendors, their venue, and the specific way their day needs to move. It requires months of preparation before the day itself. And it requires being the person who handles whatever comes up so they never have to.

Fifteen years of doing this work. This is what it looks like.
