Facebook dropped me off in a post this morning where a photographer was calling anyone who charges more than $50 for a session GREEDY.
But then was also complaining about how passive aggressive the photography community is....
Honestly, the entire post and her responses were very "ChatGPT wrote this"...
Could have stayed away from the drama, of course.
But I was in the mood for a little tea this morning.
Blame the perimenopause again (I blame it for everything these days)
1. I could be a whole lot "greedier", but I kind of like having clients that are coming to me for quality work, not cheap prices.
2. She's not a legit business owner. She does it as a hobby.
And let's make something clear HERE.
First, sweetie, if you're charging, you're running a business in the eyes of the government and better make sure your taxes are being paid on that.
Second, there is a HUGE difference in doing photography as a hobby, and for a LIVING.
It doesn't make us greedy because we are running a legit business at prices to sustain that business.
It doesn't make us greedy to want to support our families on our business.
And it doesn't make us care about our work or clients any less.
But in the end it just disgusts me when artists feels the need to tear down other photographer's business models just to get a little attention their way.
And they laugh at all the photographers "making them more money" with every comment they post.
And then I realized I it fell right into the whole "rage bait"/"click for content" scheme that has flooded Facebook anymore.
Just post after post of people hoping to make a buck by
hurting people's feelings".
I don't know, I might be biased, but I'd personally prefer to work with photographers or business owners who care about their business, care about their clients, and don't need to use rage bait for attention.
So, to the ones who have supported my work for the last 16 years of business based on my ART, from the "I clearly have no idea what I'm doing" prices, to the now, THANK YOU.
