🍂 THE SACRED SCIENCE OF LETTING GO

As autumn arrives, trees release chlorophyll, revealing golden yellows, oranges, reds, and purples that were present all along.

The colors we see are the wavelengths of light leaves reflect, not absorb. Their beauty arises through a relationship among sunlight, leaf, eye, and consciousness.

Trees are not simply letting go. They are conserving energy, releasing what they no longer need, and preparing for new life.

Perhaps autumn invites us to do the same.

Nothing remains as it was.
And still, there is beauty.

We are nature. 🍁

🍂 The forest is slowly surrendering to autumn.

A beautiful, foggy morning at Just Love Forest. The crows call back and forth through the mist, while little birds tap among the trees, searching for their morning breakfast.

There is a quiet transition underway. The days grow shorter, the forest begins to soften, and the great exhale of the season has begun.

Soon, so much of this vibrant life will settle into its winter slumber. But even in the slowing, the forest is deeply alive.

A gentle reminder from nature that rest is not the absence of life. It is part of its rhythm. 🌿

We are nature. And perhaps we, too, are being invited to slow down, turn inward, and trust the beauty of the seasons.

🌰🍂 THE SACRED JOURNEY OF AN ACORN 🌳

It’s that magical time of year when thousands of acorns begin falling from the great oaks at Just Love Forest.

But did you know it can take 500 or more acorns to produce just one seedling that survives its first year? And in one study, only 10% of young oak seedlings survived another decade. Even fewer will become mighty oaks.

Yet every acorn has a purpose.

🐿️ They nourish squirrels, deer, turkeys, birds, and countless forest creatures. For thousands of years, Native American communities have also gathered acorns for food, transforming them into nourishing meals through ancestral traditions that continue today.

And perhaps therein lies the spiritual teaching.

The acorn that feeds a squirrel has not failed.

The one that nourishes a deer has not wasted its potential.

And the one that becomes a towering oak is no more sacred than the one that sustains another life.

Isn’t this true of us, too?

Perhaps our purpose isn’t always to become something magnificent, but simply to participate in the magnificent web of life.

To nourish. To serve. To give freely.

🌳 Not every seed becomes a tree. But every seed can become part of the forest.

The sound of the wind moving across Bhakti Mountain in the wake of Hurricane Isaias. 🌬️🌲

There is so much life in the air. So much power. The eternal dance of creation and destruction, of things being shaken loose, transformed, and made new.

Standing here, listening to the wind move through the trees, I feel the extraordinary aliveness of this Earth. A reminder that nature is not separate from us. We are nature. We belong to these same rhythms, these same forces of change and renewal.

Deeply grateful that Just Love Forest was spared any significant damage, and holding tenderness for all those who were not as fortunate.

May we never lose our sense of wonder before the wild, beautiful, humbling power of this living world.

So many beautiful souls, so many moments of connection, laughter, music, movement, and love. It’s impossible to capture it all in one little reel, but here’s a taste of what we shared together in the forest.

And if you don’t see your beautiful face here, don’t worry! We’re just getting started. 🥰 We’ll be sharing more little moments, individual stories, performances, and experiences in the days ahead. There’s room for everyone in our forest family scrapbook!

For now, here’s a little love letter to a weekend we’ll carry in our hearts for a long time.

As the days grow shorter and the sunlight softens, the forest begins its slow return to stillness. The trees prepare to rest, the plants surrender their summer abundance, and the earth reminds us that every season has its own sacred rhythm.

For thousands of years, we humans have gathered at harvest time to celebrate the gifts of the year, to share food, music, stories, and friendship before the quiet of winter arrives.

Our Just Love Forest Fest was a beautiful expression of this ancient remembering. A circle of hearts coming together beneath the trees, celebrating all that has grown, all that has changed, and all that we have been given.

There is something deeply nourishing about gathering in community as the natural world begins to turn inward. We remember that we, too, belong to these rhythms. That joy and rest, connection and solitude, celebration and silence are all part of the same beautiful unfolding.

Thank you to every heart that joined our circle. May the warmth of our time together travel with us into the quieter months ahead.

Tonight was lighting and sound check for Just Love Forest Fest. ✨🌲

There is something a little surreal - and a little sacred - about watching lights begin to glow through these trees and hearing music move across the forest.

Most of the year, this place asks very little of us.

There are quiet mornings and long walks.
Satsang and prayer.
Hands in the garden.
Meals around a table.
People grieving, healing, laughing, singing.
Days of service.
Nights of stillness.
And long stretches when the forest simply belongs to the owls, the wind, the rain, and the dark.

And then, once a year, we let her put on a different face.

For a few nights around the fullness of the harvest, we consciously bring in light and sound. We dance. We make music. We gather. We celebrate the abundance of another season lived together.

And then the lights come down.

The nights grow longer.

The forest becomes quiet again.

There are so many ways to love a place. Sometimes love looks like silence. Sometimes it looks like service. Sometimes it looks like prayer.

And sometimes, for one beautiful autumn weekend, it looks like turning on the lights and dancing beneath the trees. 🧡

Morning on the western ridge.

Before the Forest begins to stir, the valleys below fill with mist, and beyond the last folds of these Georgia mountains, Alabama begins.

There is something about standing here at first light—watching the ridgelines disappear one behind another—that makes the boundaries we draw on maps feel a little less important.

Georgia. Alabama. Forest. Mountain. Sky.

From up here, it is simply one living landscape waking beneath the same light.

Happy Fall Equinox today from Just Love Forest

Some places hold our footsteps.
Some places begin to hold our stories.

On Sunday morning, during our Fall Equinox Community Weekend, we gathered after forest therapy for a despacho ceremony. It’s a ritual of gratitude, reciprocity, and love for the land.

Each solstice and equinox, we choose a particular place or being here at Just Love Forest to honor. This time, it was our eight-circle stone labyrinth.

Thousands of people have walked these stones now.

They have carried grief into the labyrinth. And joy. Confusion. Prayer. Camaraderie. Questions without answers. And, perhaps more than anything, courage.

The courage to be vulnerable.
The courage to bear a little more of the soul.
The courage to believe that the forest might be listening.
The courage to discover that we can be in relationship with the living world in ways we may have forgotten.

So this time, we asked nothing of the labyrinth.

We simply gathered around it and said: thank you.

Thank you for holding all those footsteps.
Thank you for holding all those tears.
Thank you for holding all those prayers.
Thank you for helping us remember.

As we crossed the threshold into autumn, we offered our gratitude back to this little circle of Earth that has received so much from so many of us.

Deep gratitude to Robin Guidice for guiding our community through this ancient ceremony at each equinox and solstice - and to everyone who brought their presence, tenderness, and love to the land.

May we remember that reciprocity is part of relationship.

The Earth gives.
We receive.
And then, whenever we remember,
we give some of our love back. 🍂🙏
