For those of you who missed it the first time, an encore performance of “Grief is a Messy Bitch” hosted by local business Pub New Harmony in Pocatello! The Pub New Harmony Offical

Julie Leir clambers through the layers of her grief, untangles the threads of loss. She abandons finding a right way to grieve and searches for a ritual to bring peace and honor those lost through dance and storytelling.

After its premiere at the Tampa International Fringe Festival, and performances at the Green Bay Fringe Festival, the award winning show “Grief is a Messy Bitch” is coming to Pocatello one more time! This show is near and dear to my heart, and it means the world to be able to share it with the city I call home.

Admission by donation (suggested $10-20)
Proceeds will be used to support further touring and performances of this work.

Audience Reviews:
“To be fully honest... I can’t even put words to how powerful of a performance this was! I was not at all ready for the moments of depth, torment, healing,
celebration and love. It was a lot all in one impactful hour, bring your tissues! It really was just over all beautiful. Thank you!”

“The most powerful and moving performance I saw during the festival. Julie is a masterful artist. Highly recommend, but be prepared to leave weeping.”

“Beautiful, touching, and emotional show. Julie always brings such unique, strong energy to her performances, and you can feel the catharsis through her.”

“This was a deeply moving and healing experience for me. Amazingly expressive, beautiful and raw, with soothing ritual. Thank you, Julie!”

"The district does not negotiate with woodwinds." — Stuart G.

BELLTETHER SPRINGS SCHOOL DISTRICT — Mrs. Toddy, the district's only elementary music teacher, has sent 1,140 plastic recorders home with students since Aug. 18 and says she will not stop until the arts budget, cut from $212,000 to $0 in May, is restored. Each recorder went home with a note encouraging families to practice together daily.

The central office has received 2,300 parent complaints since the first recorder left the building, though Mr. Gaffney, the district's superintendent, said the cuts will not be reversed under pressure. Mrs. Vukovich, a parent of two, said her son knows only three notes but has found a way to play them for 90 consecutive minutes.

The board's Tuesday meeting ran seven hours after 140 second-graders signed up for public comment, each entitled to three minutes. All 140 chose to play "Hot Cross Buns."
