It’s .
Today we’d like you to meet Big Charlotte. Charlotte is one of 17 pigs that joined NSLB last year after they were seized from another rescue and felony charges for abandoning/cruelty were filed. Charlotte was with her biological brother and best friend Norman. Norman needed emergent care at the hospital and Charlotte accompanied him for evaluation and companionship. Unfortunately Norman’s injuries were severe and had been untreated for long enough, that the most compassionate thing to do was end Norman’s pain & suffering. Charlotte endured living without adequate shelter, adequate bedding to keep her warm, regular access to fresh clean thawed water, (reportedly) irregular feedings, and living in inches of cold mud mixed with bodily waste. Although Charlotte was now safe from that she had just lost her best friend in the whole world, her brother Norman. Along with transports, the hospital, new people, new routines, it was a lot for Charlotte. She was depressed and deeply grieving the loss of Norman. When Charlotte was ready, we introduced her & Jude, then later Maxwell joined their little group. Charlotte loves her little family and the boys absolutely adore her. Charlotte has a BIG personality and can frequently be found on 2 legs standing at the fence/gate to greet you. She is a very sweet girl who loves to snuggle and soak up belly rubs. Charlotte may not be aware, but this is a very significant week. On Friday the 17th she will celebrate her 7th birthday (along with brothers Andy & Nugget). On Saturday the 18th we will celebrate the 1 year anniversary of her (and many others) liberation from their prior lives.
