Taste of JA is moving along, and we truly cannot wait to serve everyone who has expressed interest, stopped by the location, shared our posts, or supported us throughout this journey. 🇯🇲❤️

Right now, the main thing holding us up is finding an electrician who can complete the final work necessary for our fire suppression system to be tested and approved. This is the last major step needed before we can submit our building permit to Plymouth Borough and receive our occupancy license from BHW. Because of this we have not established an opening date yet.

We’ve received quotes from several electricians, but unfortunately have not been able to find someone who can complete the work in a timely manner.

Once this step is completed, we will then move forward with our final health inspection approval process before opening our doors.

We are doing everything we can to expedite the process while still remaining patient and committed to doing things the right way. We appreciate everyone who continues to check in, encourage us, and support this vision for the community.

Also — if anyone knows where we can find nice restaurant tables and chairs (preferably black), please send recommendations our way! 🙏🏾

Thank you all again for the continued support. Taste of JA is coming soon💚🔥🫶🏾

From our kitchen to our community… this moment means everything.

What started as our mother cooking meals with love for her family and her children’s friends has grown into a small family business sharing those same meals with the community. Today, Taste of JA has become something we can finally call our own. We are stepping into our next chapter—a brick and mortar.

Like many others, we are building a family legacy. We are making history in our own way. This is our story, our culture, and our commitment to serving this community authentic Jamaican food with heart.

We are so grateful for every single person who has supported us along the way. This is only the beginning.

Stay tuned for our grand opening 🇯🇲✨🤍

📚✨ 2nd African-American Read-In — We're so thankful! ✨📚

Our hearts are full after such a powerful evening of literature, reflection, and community.

We're incredibly grateful for our featured poet Assétou Xango and their moving poetry performance.

We were thrilled to work closely with our co-hosts, the King's College Black Student Union! We joined in warm fellowship neighbors, readers, and writers. We were also eager to share in the wonderful food from local small business Taste of JA!

We are deeply grateful to every participant who stood up and read works by Afro-Caribbean writers and Black poets, as we continue to make storytelling and literacy essential parts of our Black History Month.

We look forward to growing this gathering year after year.
