Anyone ever wonder how a laser tag weapon shoots?
Since we build all of our weapons in house, we’re pretty familiar with the inner workings of our equipment here at TX Laser Combat.
This little part right here, the IR board, is what sends out the signal when you pull the trigger, and unlike the name “laser tag” suggests, it’s not a “laser” that is shooting out, but an infrared signal, just like many tv remotes. That signal is focused through a lens that has a specific focus point that keeps the beam tight and able to hit targets with accuracy at well over 100 meters. It’s also not just sending out a simple infrared pulse, but a signal that carries lots of information, everything from what type of weapon is shooting you, to the team they’re on. It can even tell someone they’ve been killed by a zombie, making them switch teams and become a zombie themselves.
Ultimately, we’re passionate about everything that goes into building laser tag weapons and that’s part of why we love building so many different types. Our next big project is our “Secret Menu”. We don’t want to reveal too much, but our Wasteland Club members will have access to some weapons that will be pretty special. They’ll be some real Easter egg level weapons, think laser tag proton packs and pirates flintlock blunderbusses.
What else do you want to know about laser tag equipment? Any weapons you want to see added to our armory?
