It has been an incredible and honorable journey sharing the amazing flavors and culture of my Puerto Rican heritage to all of my loyal customers in southern New Hampshire, Maine and Massachusetts for the past 10 years. This week a very dear and loyal customer shared her sentiments about our upcoming closing and her journey with us in a beautifully written letter that brought me to tears. I am sharing her letter with you (with her permission) as I truly feel that her message resonates with our loyal customers.
“To the incredible owner and family of Café El Camino,
It’s hard to put into words what your restaurant has meant to us. For the past 3.5 years, it wasn’t just a place to eat—it was a second home. No matter how far we moved, we always made the drive because your food, your warmth, and your kindness made every mile worth it.
Every plate you served was a taste of home—flavors so rich and perfectly seasoned that no extra salt or pepper was ever needed. White rice and beans, arroz con gandules, pernil, beef empanadas, the best sancocho—every bite was a reminder of our culture, our roots, and the love that goes into Puerto Rican cooking. And, of course, we’ll never forget our go-to order, the legendary C5.
Your restaurant became our tradition, our gathering place for holiday dinners, where we celebrated and made lasting memories over the food that felt like home. We supported your business beyond the restaurant, following you to farmer’s markets throughout the years because we truly believed in what you created—a place filled with love, culture, and incredible food.
But beyond the food, it’s you—the heart and soul behind this place—that we will miss the most. You welcomed us like family, always making sure we left full, happy, and feeling at home. Puerto Rican culture is about love, warmth, and family, and you gave us all of that and more.
Thank you for every meal, every hug, and every memory you’ve given us. Though your doors may be closing, the love and impact you've had on us will stay forever. We will always love and cherish you.
Con todo el cariño del mundo," (end of quoted letter)
I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for sharing this incredible journey with us..
I hope I get to see you one last time in the next two weekends as our last day is Sunday March 30th, 2025.
Love Always,
Cafe El Camino Family
