This little elk calf arrived last night — a few days ahead of schedule and already stealing hearts. Out here on the ranch, every birth feels like a gift from nature, and this one came with a surprise early arrival.

She’s officially drinking full bottles now. 🍼🦬❤️

Our little bison girl finally settled in and drank an entire bottle at her last feeding. Her older “brother,” who’s three days ahead of her, is still learning and hasn’t fully latched on consistently yet — but we’re taking every small win we can get.

Raising orphaned bison calves is equal parts patience, exhaustion, heartbreak, and hope. Watching her trust us enough to finally nurse felt like a huge milestone.

Nature doesn’t rush… but Placitas RanchFest™ baby watch is officially on high alert. 🦬

Mama is in labor here at Elk Ridge Ranch, and somewhere very soon, a brand-new little bison will make its first appearance in the New Mexico sunshine.

This is the real ranch life stuff. Dust, patience, instinct, and one very determined mama doing what generations before her have done on this land.

Baby Bison Days may be arriving sooner than expected. 👀
