I believe a shout out is due!
Over the past several weeks I've had a front row seat in witnessing an extreme amount of effort, practice and time from our communities youth and coaches, in all areas really but for the sake of this post especially in the dance, cheer & flags realm.
The past few years the programs have developed tremendously and because of that they are asking for a lot more from their athletes. It has been a pleasure to see these students rise to the occasion, push themselves, ask for help and truly work for what they want. Our dancers alone have been utilizing all of their resources, whether that be working with me personally, asking for a key to get into the studio to practice, working together and at all of our communities studios, traveling to college dance clinics, asking for constructive corrections and actually applying them or simply having me cut their music. Like we all do, these athletes have a lot on their plates besides preparing for tryouts so to see this level of ability to prioritize is admirable as I know beyond this they are just becoming really great, hardworking humans.
No matter the outcome, as throughout the years I've seen both the excitement of “making the team” and the heartbreak of not, this time and preparation is not lost. Every practice, every early morning, every moment of doubt you pushed through has helped shape you into a stronger athlete, teammate, and person. Trust the work you’ve put in, walk into tryouts with confidence, and remember that your worth is never defined by one result. Be proud of how far you’ve come, and let your passion and hard work shine. Congratulations to all the dancers who have worked hard this season, we are cheering you on every step of the way!
