“Our venue has a coordinator, so we don’t need a planner.”
This is one of the most common misunderstandings in events.
A venue coordinator works for the venue.
A planner works for you.
A venue coordinator’s job is to manage the space. They make sure the room is set correctly, the venue staff is scheduled, and their policies are followed.
A planner’s job is to manage the entire experience.
That means:
• building and managing your vendor team
• designing the event
• creating and running the timeline
• solving problems before you even know they existed
• coordinating logistics between vendors who have never worked together before
• advocating for you when decisions need to be made quickly
• protecting the flow, the design, and the guest experience
Think of it this way:
Your venue coordinator makes sure the venue runs smoothly.
Your planner makes sure your event runs smoothly.
Both roles are valuable.
But they’re not the same job.
And the most seamless events always have both.
