Guess what! January 19th is National Popcorn Day!!!! If you, like me, plan on celebrating with a peaceful night watching a certain tv series set in Montana ( btw...how is possible there isn't already a Jellystone Ranch parody?) while enjoying a giant bucket of deliciousness then perhaps you are in the market to rent a popcorn machine. If so give us a call!

As we work our way through our day we should all take a moment and think about how we all owe a debt of gratitude to our veterans of all branches of the military. I specifically want to mention General John Sheppard, who recently passed, of the Canadian Armed Forces. Our military, and the militaries of our allies, have provided us a level of safety we should never take for granted. To all of those who served, your sacrifices are greatly appreciated. Thank you.

So 2020 has been a tumultuous year. As 2021 comes flying up on us it is important to stop, take a deep breath and remember that we are all lucky to live in this country. While struggling with political, ideological, racial and religious differences can be overwhelming there is one area on which we can all agree...without the dedication and sacrifice of ALL of our veterans ours would be a dramatically different country. We at Mihm Rental, A Party Place Rentals and C.J. Schawalder & Sons want to take this opportunity to thank our veterans for their service to our country and our people.

Happy 4th of July everyone. As we move forward with the tumult of 2020 I think it is important that we stop and recognize the sacrifices of the men and women who have given their lives as the ultimate sacrifice to provide us the freedoms we now possess. Our nation is in a state of chaos right now and we all recognize it. The struggles we all face are great and the solutions are not easy. Race, religion and political affiliation aside we are all citizens of the United States. We aren't feeling united right now and it is a frightening time. Let us remember that we all, no matter our race, no matter our political party, no matter our faith want, the same thing: safety for our families, safety for ourselves and that most unique of constitutional rights....the right to a pursuit of happiness. Be safe everyone and have a wonderful holiday.

As we celebrate this Memorial Day with the new guidelines of masks and social distancing lets take a moment to think about the impact this pandemic has had on us all. Lost loved ones, lost opportunities and in many ways lost time. When I was young and things didn't go my way I used to say to my dad "this isn't fair". My dad would say "Son, life isn't fair and you'd be smart to learn that now'. Those words never seemed truer than right now. Every day we hear that "we are all in this together" and that is true. Remember that your neighbors are going through the same struggles that you are going through. They are striving to maintain their dreams just as you are striving to maintain yours. Memorial Day is here to help us remember the sacrifices that have been made to allow us our freedoms. Let's use this kickoff to the summer to remember to celebrate life, support our local businesses and strive for happier times. The return to normalcy will take time but its starting and it is up to us to push on through!

The cancellation of graduation ceremonies because of the coronavirus pandemic hasn't stopped some members of the Class of 2020, as well as their families and educators, from putting on commencement exercises of their own. Steve Hartman reports.
