Hey friends!
As we were planning our events for this month, we asked ourselves whether we should do something to honor September 11th. Honestly, we hesitated. We worried it might feel "too political," or come across like a gimmick — and that’s the last thing we want.
But the more we thought about it, we felt that it was the right thing to do. That's because all of us alive back in 2001 remember the shock, horror, and heaviness that was 9/11 - it wasn't just a day, it was something that lingered in the months (and years) after. And we were just observers from small-town Kansas. But for so many first responders and veterans, that day and its ramifications had an impact on them for months and years to come.
So we're hosting this low-key Patriots' Day Gathering to show our first responders and veterans that we appreciate them - not just on 9/11, but every day. It's not a political statement, but as a heartfelt gesture to those who serve our communities and our nation.
If you join us, we hope you’ll come with that same spirit — one of gratitude, reflection, and appreciation. If it’s not for you, we completely understand, and we’ll still be thankful for the sacrifices made by the brave men and women who put others before themselves.
At the end of the day, our goal is simple: to create a space where the community can come together and enjoy the safety and peace that so many of our first responders and veterans have sacrificed for.
💚 With gratitude,
The Greenway
