I went to Belgium, looking for more lightness in my floral work, not necessarily fewer flowers, but more movement more space and more room for each stem to be noticed.
Before coming home. I found an urn at a Paris flea market. After carrying it through train stations and airports, it felt only right that it become the first place. I tried out what I’ve been studying.
I filled it with flowers from my field and approached them a little differently. Stepping back more, letting the lines wander and resisting the urge to fill every opening.
I’ve spent decades learning how flowers grow, but this trip gave me new ways to think about what they can become.
I came home seeing my own fields differently and very curious about where that will lead Hen House Flowers next.
