As we get ready for an incredible evening of art, community, and philanthropy, we’re looking back at our recent Artist Reception. It was wonderful to gather with artists, collectors, supporters, and friends who share a passion for the arts and the future of creativity in Pine Plains.

This year’s auction features exceptional works donated by celebrated artists and collectors from around the world and right here in our own community. Every bid helps support Stissing Center’s arts and cultural programming, ensuring that creativity continues to thrive for years to come.

This Saturday at 10am, we invite you and your family to join us for The Art Effect’s Children’s Stop-Motion Animation Workshop, the first event in our free Summer Children’s Series!

Create your own short animated film while exploring storytelling, movement, and visual creativity, presented in partnership with The Art Effect from Poughkeepsie. Part of Pine Plains Community Day! Also check out our local Youth Art Show, on display from 10am-2pm!

Throughout the summer, Stissing Center invites children and families to join us for our Summer Children’s Series, a collection of free or pay-what-you-can performances and workshops designed to spark imagination, creativity, curiosity, and fun. Kick off the Stissing Center Summer Children’s Series with a FREE Children’s Stop-Motion Animation Workshop on June 13! Young creators will explore the wild and wacky world of “humanimation”—using their own bodies to create amazing stop-motion videos. Float through the air, try silly movements, and bring your imagination to life!

Best of all? Every participant takes home their very own animation at the end of the workshop.

This pay-what-you-can event is part of Pine Plains Community Day, so come celebrate creativity, community, and lots of fun! 🌟

Join us for a special evening of theater at Stissing Center!

On Friday, June 12 at 7:30 PM in The Grace Note, we’re proud to present a staged reading of Helpful Neighbors, a witty, thought-provoking new play by acclaimed playwright Robert Lyons.

A longtime leader in New York City’s downtown theater scene and former artistic director of the New Ohio Theatre, Lyons now calls Pine Plains home and serves on Stissing Center’s Advisory Board. We’re delighted to share his latest work with our community.

Helpful Neighbors follows Gloria, whose helpful neighbors seem eager to lend a hand—from managing finances to tending her tomato garden. But as events unfold, Gloria finds herself at the center of an unexpected battle between good and evil, where appearances can be deceiving.

Featuring local performers Grace Dietrich, Vaughn Fritts, Mary Jenkins, and Jamie Ge**er, this staged reading offers audiences the opportunity to experience a new play before it’s fully produced.
