This Saturday at 7:30pm at Stissing Center! Fresh off their 2025 Telluride Bluegrass Band Contest win, Rachel Sumner & Traveling Light are a Boston-based string band making music that blends folk tradition with feminist storytelling, poetic detail, and a little grit. At the center is Sumner’s songwriting—rooted in history, myth, and personal reckoning—carried by close harmonies, upright bass, acoustic guitar, and fiddle. The trio features Kat Wallace on fiddle and vocals and Mike Siegel on upright bass and vocals, whose playing brings both tension and tenderness to the sound. thestissingcenter.org/events

Brazilian Rhythms Dance Party! This Saturday at 7:30pm at Stissing Center. Come to dance, eat delicious Brazilian food, and hear three of the finest Brazilian musicians playing today.

Art2BeHuman presents Massaranduba, bringing the infectious sound of Brazilian Forró to the Stissing Center; led by percussionist Gil Oliveira and accordionist Felipe Hostins — longtime collaborators on New York's vibrant Brazilian music scene, with credits alongside Gilberto Gil, Caetano Veloso, and Bebel Gilberto.

Forró dates back to the turn of the 19th century, born from the meeting of Portuguese accordion tunes and African rhythms in Brazil's rugged sertão. It's music, dance, and all-night celebration rolled into one — driven by the sanfona (accordion), zabumba (bass drum), and triangle.

Joining them is special guest Davi Vieira, a Salvador-born percussionist and vocalist known for touring with David Byrne and Carlos Santana, a decade-long run in Off-Broadway's STOMP, and voicing Armando in the animated film Rio.

Come for the music, and join us on the dance floor. Plus delicious Brazilian foods for sale! thestissingcenter.org/events
