This wedding hit incredibly close to home. Danielle and I share an intense love for our late Fathers, and I love how she honored hers on her wedding day. She draped her Dad’s denim jacket across a front row seat at the ceremony, along with a few of her favorite photos of him. He might not have been there to walk her down the aisle, but he had the best seat in the house.
Later, Sierra Bonneville Photography included the jacket in her wedding photos, and my favorites are the ones at our Mountain View. The way she looks at her husband, Timothy, you know it’s true love! It always fills my heart with joy seeing love like this.
Now that the wedding is over, I will miss Danielle’s morning texts with bear photos at her cabin, and hearing her talk about the excitement building up to one of the most special days of her life. My favorite story was the one she told me about sitting outside before the wedding as a hummingbird flew right in front of her face, hovering for a few moments before flying away. We are both certain this was a visit from her Daddy.
As Father’s Day approaches, my heart always turns to my Dad. I honor him every single day I set foot on this property, because before Honeysuckle Hills became the wedding venue it is today, this land was HIS. His boots walked these fields, and his spirit is woven into every corner of this place.
For all of you missing your Daddy’s, too, I see you and I feel you! Love never leaves us. It just finds new ways to show up.
