Reggae on the River

Reggae on the River www.reggaeontheriver.com In 2024 Reggae on the River made its triumphant return to Humboldt County. We cannot wait to see you all again in 2025!

We are very grateful our festival community has spoken and its message has been heard loud & clear by the Mateel Community Center and Hot Milk Entertainment. Reggae on the River was established in 1984 as a fundraiser to rebuild the Mateel Community Center after their original location, the old fireman’s hall, was burnt down. This event created a merger of Northern California cannabis culture with

Jamaican reggae music. And since then, Reggae on the River has evolved into one of the most recognized and iconic reggae festivals in the world! Over the course of the last 40 years, over half a million people have made the pilgrimage to this unique setting in Humboldt County on the the Eel River. They’ve come to enjoy the arts, the river, the redwoods, the excitement, the ganja, the people, the unity, and the world renowned artists that only Reggae on the River can offer!

To Our Friends at County Line Ranch & Outraged Orangutan,

On behalf of the Mateel Community Center, the entire Reggae on the River team and Hot Milk Entertainment, we extend our heartfelt thanks for once again welcoming us to your beautiful land.

This marks our second year celebrating Reggae on the River at County Line Ranch, and it’s clear that something truly special is taking root here. While our original site at French’s Camp will always hold a place near and dear to our hearts—and each of the other venues we’ve called home brought its own unique magic—we are overjoyed to have found a new home with you.

Your generosity, flexibility, and genuine partnership have helped us reimagine and reinvigorate this beloved event. County Line Ranch has proven to be more than a venue…it’s become part of the spirit of Reggae on the River.

We look forward to many more years of collaboration, celebration, and community on your land. Thank you for being such an essential part of this journey.

With deepest gratitude,

The Mateel Community Center

With Deepest Thanks to Hot Milk Entertainment

Dear Leo Octagon Ahern and the Hot Milk Entertainment Crew,

As the dust settles on another unforgettable Reggae on the River, we want to express our deepest gratitude to the partner that brought the music to life. From start to finish, your vision, passion, and professionalism elevated this festival in every way.

Thank you for stepping in with open hearts, steady hands, and pure dedication. You brought not only your expertise, but a deep love for reggae and community that was felt in every beat. From artist relations to soundchecks to the seamless flow of the lineup—your leadership kept the vibes strong and the music flowing.

This festival thrives because of you— because you believe in the power of music, you care about culture, and you know how to make magic happen. You picked up the historic torch and helped us carry it with honor.

From all of us at the Mateel, thank you for helping bring Reggae on the River home once again. We look forward to many more riddims, moments, and memories together.

With deep respect and appreciation,

A Heartfelt Thank You from the Mateel Community Center

Dear Friends, Family, and Community,

As another incredible Reggae on the River festival comes to a close, we find ourselves overwhelmed with gratitude for the magic that happens when this community comes together. What began decades ago as a dream has grown into something truly extraordinary, and it exists because of each and every one of you.

To Our Beloved Patrons, thank you for bringing your love, your energy, and your pure joy to the County Line Ranch this year. Your dancing feet, your singing voices, and your radiant smiles are the heartbeat of this festival. You travel from near and far to be part of this family, and your passion for the music and the experience creates the electric atmosphere that makes Reggae on the River unlike anywhere else on earth. You don't just attend our festival – you ARE our festival.

To Our Generous Sponsors, your unwavering support makes this dream possible. Whether you've been with us for decades or joined our family recently, your partnership allows us to bring world-class reggae artists to our beautiful corner of Northern California. Your investment goes beyond financial support – it's an investment in music, community, and the preservation of reggae culture. We are deeply grateful for your belief in our mission.

To Our Incredible Volunteers, you are the unsung heroes who make magic happen behind the scenes. Rain or shine, early morning or late night, you show up with smiles on your faces and service in your hearts. From parking cars to serving meals, from cleaning stages to guiding patrons, you handle every task with grace and dedication. Your volunteer spirit embodies the very best of what Reggae on the River represents – community, love, and working together toward something beautiful.

To All the ‘Mateelies’/Coordinators on the festival management team and beyond who pour your blood, sweat, and tears into this event, we see you and we honor you. This festival is woven into the fabric of who you are, and your deep commitment runs through every aspect of what we do. You understand that Reggae on the River is more than just a weekend – it's a legacy, a tradition, and a responsibility we all share. Your dedication to excellence and your fierce love for this event inspire us every single day.

To Our Entire Community, thank you for showing up in countless ways throughout the year. Whether you're spreading the word, supporting our local businesses, helping with fundraising efforts, or simply holding this festival in your heart, you are part of something special. You prove that when a community comes together with shared purpose and love, incredible things happen.

Reggae on the River exists because of the collective spirit of everyone who believes in the power of music to bring people together, to heal, and to celebrate life. As we look toward the future, we carry with us the memories of another beautiful festival and the knowledge that we are supported by the most amazing community in the world.

Until we gather again by the river, keep the music alive in your hearts.

With endless gratitude and love,

Mateel Community Center Board of Directors & Festival Manager, Alisha Goodrich
