A composite image I shot for to show off her newest art piece. To give this image a little more visual interest and story telling element I suggested photographing multiple images of her to blend together into one. To accomplish it I had my camera set on a tripod and connected to my computer to perfect the angle and composition. I then lit her main portrait with a Profoto b10 in a diffused medium white umbrella. The technique accomplished two things: 1) it blocked the harsh light from directly hitting her. 2) It was the source of soft and flattering light that we see on her. I noticed the shadows were still too dark on the otherwise of her face so I filled that in with another Profoto B10 modified with a zoom reflector at a lower power than the main light. This is an important nuance because we have to be careful to not flatten the contrast from the main light. It has to compliment it, not equal it. Since I shot on a trip I was able to manipulate all of these photos together and it allowed to easily take out the distracting light equipment. The end result is a polished image with visual impact that she can be proud to feature on her website.

-BRUCE KIRKWOOD -

I had the pleasure of photographing world renowned violinist, singer/songwriter and life coach Bruce Kirkwood earlier this year. Having traveled the world sharing his gift, he's performed for organizations and names such as the NBA, NFL, Oprah Winfrey Network, to name a few. Check out his music on Spotify and stay tuned for his upcoming Christmas EP that will be dropping later this year! A TRUE Artist!

Something I shot on a 115 degree June day where we all struggled to work in the heat!

On top of that every beige surface around us radiated it's own simmering heat. Never the less worth it because this art museum is something else. It was the perfect structural and geometrically dense backdrop for the model to contrast against. We kept the posing strong yet feminine to play with the shapes and lines the eyes see. I'm also a fan of very simplified color palettes that I think really add to the strength of the photo.

New work to highlight .reesor.art newest mural for an Airbnb property. These shots brought their own set of challenges including the morning sun casting distracting shadows on the art work. With A little patience, strategy, and luck we were able to pull off what we needed.

This is some ridiculously low shutter speed and mildly high ISO but I needed it to get the ambient light coming in behind to showcase the books with the higher aperture. I thought about gelling and strobing it to mimic the sun but it just would not have been as unique and natural. To me, the juice was worth the squeeze. I also decided to clone out the background stand altogether. While It’s intentional in my shots after letting my eyes take this image in I thought it too busy with the complexity of the books shelves right next to it. Not to mention the only thing that’s not in the same warm color family.

REATLTORS - here are THREE ways to market yourself.

1. Generate a Strong Online Presence as a Real Estate Expert. Most people’s attention is online. Be online.
2. Build a website and blog. A website or blog is the foundation you need to start building up a consistent brand.
3. Hire a photographer. Well, that’s where I come in. Take pride in yourself and how you present your online brand. While social media is not especially tuned for people looking to buy property, it is still a place where you can reach their eyeballs and build a brand. A place for people to connect your face with value, insight, and even entertainment. You can use many strategies to build a brand on social media, but the most important thing is posting useful content and engaging material.

Recent work for .az to capture their team of experts and also marketing images of them in action! For the portraits we used a three light setup consisting of a medium reflective umbrella for the key light, 7ft reflective umbrella for the fill light and a small gelled light in a reflector for separation and to add a touch of warmth to the images.

Portraits for .reesor.art to showcase her newly completed mural at The Tempest Hotel in Tempe Arizona. The hotel approached Paige recently about an art piece meant to elevate the beer garden experience located in the back patio. They wanted to feature scenes that incorporated palm trees and iconic Tempe visuals. We love the color palette that was chosen here. The fiery reds and the soothing cyans were voted on as the winning concept from a poll Paige ran on her instagram. Follow her for a full reveal of the artwork in the coming days.

BTS lighting tip. A lot of people might light the subject from the right in this scenario. I often prefer my style to mimic what the light naturally wants to do but enhance it as naturally as possible. So I’m going to light from where sunlight is already coming from. That’s where B10 and medium reflective umbrella come in to help the windows light wrap around softly to light both the model and the bag. It’s also important to not under-expose the ambient too much so we can maintain the ambience and beautiful detail in the setting. Stay tuned for more from this shoot with
