Black Girls Brunch was created to be a safe space for Black Women to be Black Women together. The choice to use the word “girl” in the name was because so many Black Women never really get the chance to be girls safely and freely.

Today the beautiful life of is being honored and celebrated. She is one of us. She is the best of us.

My prayer and intention as the creator of is to go back to our foundation to honor our elevation. So many people wanted to make this space something it was never meant to be.

All Black Women and Girls are safe here. This is our space. This is for us. This is by us.

Thank you Tray for being a light that this world always needed. We will brunch for you and with you till infinity and beyond. Thank you for loving us. Thank you for teaching us how to love. Thank you for believing in us even when it hurt. We will always love you. And we got Cass! Know that we gone always have him!

Happy 4 Year Anniversary ! Last year, we were finally able to celebrate our anniversary in person... and this year we are putting safety above all because you ladies mean that much to me. Creating this community and brand has been one of the best things that could have ever happened in my life. I truly love who we are and I can’t wait to be surrounded by all of the love and light that you all bring to my life! I am grateful that our community is still growing—even in the midst of a pandemic.

Cheers to 4 years! Thank you to every Black Woman who has supported this vision and thank you to every sponsor and ally who has helped me to keep our community safe.

This day last year we sold out and executed our first national in DC during .

We are reminded of every no and every redirection that led us to that day. We are grateful for every affirmation and for the support of our community and sister-friend tribe.

This movement is continually proven relevant. This work is still tough and the reward is not always immediate. But it is beautiful.

Remembering where we started and what we were able to grow together in community has helped to keep me grounded during the past few months.

Nothing is as it was, and there won’t be a “return to normal”...

However, I am hopeful that when we do reunite, it will be with an even greater since of authenticity in the need for sister-friends and with a bolder demand to keep our space sacred.

If the world didn’t believe that were necessary for Black Women before, I know they do now! Missing you all more than you could ever know!
