Ikebana helps me slow down and really enjoy the materials I’m working with.

That’s my goal for the summer. Slow down. Enjoy making desert designs and find the true path for my business.

I’ve been told by fellow industry friends that “clients just don’t care about sustainability” and that maybe I should pivot my messaging. Or that they wouldn’t touch sustainability.

And I get it. Right? At a certain price point, people want what they want and they have the funds to make it happen! That’s why it’s important as a floral business, my standard practices involve sustainability. Because it is true that not everyone is down for sustainability, but that doesn’t mean it’s a lost cause. Or that I should pivot. That doesn’t mean I don’t still get hired by people whose main priority isn’t sustainability!

And no… urban desert flora is not 100% sustainable but we are as close as we can be. We are a needed voice within the industry. We know nothing is 100% sustainable, but we can always make better choices.

Sustainability is not a trend. It is a choice!

Of course!! Let’s look at some leaf patterns too.

Some landscape plants do well once they are cut, and others are not! While we are continually learning, we now have a nice set of ol’ reliables we can turn to at any time of the year.

Our clients love and adore the desert just as much as we do! We are so happy to go beyond the succulent and showcase the unique plants that grow here.

We love a good ol’ regular pillar candle!! There’s something so chic about them.

We burn them down to hockey puck size and then melt them down further to make tea-light votives! It’s not a perfectly sustainable method, but it keeps the little tealight cups out of the landfill. (Hello summer project!!!)

Our clients who adore candles and the ambiance they provide, typically go for a fully candle centerpiece with fresh flowers prioritized for personals and ceremony!

A little nature for your day. Did you go outside?

There’s no real rules that say being a florist has to look a certain type of way.

So I chose to be a florist who wants to be outside and connected with nature. A florist who is season led in bloom and color palette.

I do not have a retail space (nor do I have the desire to!!) and I currently work out of my home. It allows me to save for my future studio space. It allows me to pay myself and freelancers a living wage.

I refuse to use AI to generate anything creative. Everything you see will always be straight off the dome. A true human idea. Because beautiful and talented humans are the ones who will bring your vision to life.

I don’t use strict recipes. It makes designing more fun! Gives me the freedom to create freely within the contracted parameters.

In 2021 I set out to do something. Hahaha I’m being so real right now. I wish I could say it was clear from the beginning but it wasn’t. I’ve found my path now. In 2026, I’m allowing the foundation time dry so that 2027 means I can build even more.

Floral decor doesn’t always have to be flower forward! We can focus on the bits of nature that makes you happiest.

For these small pieces, we made moss balls and added bits of driftwood, lichen, and other Washington/Oregon coast foraged beauties.
