Hello darlings 💖 Out of Office is set

It’s time for my creative reset + spend time with my sweet great grandma.

My current clients will continue to hear from me once per week, but I am putting new projects on hold for the next 4-6 weeks.

Feeling so moody on this Monday morning 😈

When we aren’t able to grab a lot of blooms locally (and it does happen) we are always foam free!

Sometimes we can’t get a lot of blooms locally because….

• seasonally, the colors didn’t end up aligning. for example, in spring 2026 we had a ton of purple blooms and less pinks, oranges, and white.

• the specific color we needed was coming from a local variety that succumbed to pest pressure. (we are always prepared to pivot)

• an early heat wave decimated a lot of cool season blooms.

• an early freeze closed the blooming window prematurely.

• your wedding is outside of Mid March - Mid October and we simply don’t have enough blooms to be 100% local.

We always do our best to stay on top of local sourcing, and will always be foam free!!

Ikebana helps me slow down and really enjoy the materials I’m working with.

That’s my goal for the summer. Slow down. Enjoy making desert designs and find the true path for my business.

I’ve been told by fellow industry friends that “clients just don’t care about sustainability” and that maybe I should pivot my messaging. Or that they wouldn’t touch sustainability.

And I get it. Right? At a certain price point, people want what they want and they have the funds to make it happen! That’s why it’s important as a floral business, my standard practices involve sustainability. Because it is true that not everyone is down for sustainability, but that doesn’t mean it’s a lost cause. Or that I should pivot. That doesn’t mean I don’t still get hired by people whose main priority isn’t sustainability!

And no… urban desert flora is not 100% sustainable but we are as close as we can be. We are a needed voice within the industry. We know nothing is 100% sustainable, but we can always make better choices.

Sustainability is not a trend. It is a choice!

“We really love the desert! Can you use a few desert plants in our personals?”

Of course!! Let’s look at some leaf patterns too.

Some landscape plants do well once they are cut, and others are not! While we are continually learning, we now have a nice set of ol’ reliables we can turn to at any time of the year.

Our clients love and adore the desert just as much as we do! We are so happy to go beyond the succulent and showcase the unique plants that grow here.

Are you swimming through floral inspo that just doesn’t fit your vibe? You’re not into the typical wedding look. You’re funky. Your home is eclectic. You’ve got a gallery wall filled with thrifted and handmade art. Your garden is fab or you want to start one soon.

We get you! Our steez: local and native flowers curated to fit your unique personality.

We can saturate your day with color, texture, and whimsy. We can make you feel as magical as you are. Just like that funky botanical doorway you thought was too cute to not snap a photo of or that one little plant you see on your walks that finally bloomed. It’s that moment when your neighbor brings you a whole bag of lemons and oranges from their trees.

Honor the gifts the desert gives! The desert GIVES 💅🏽

We love a good ol’ regular pillar candle!! There’s something so chic about them.

We burn them down to hockey puck size and then melt them down further to make tea-light votives! It’s not a perfectly sustainable method, but it keeps the little tealight cups out of the landfill. (Hello summer project!!!)

Our clients who adore candles and the ambiance they provide, typically go for a fully candle centerpiece with fresh flowers prioritized for personals and ceremony!

Budding spring from a few landscape plants you might have in your yard. Do you notice these small delights when you’re out and about?

Mesquite
Mexican Bird of Paradise
Orange Bells
Lantana
Palm

Part of what I love about learning Sogetsu Ikebana is practicing slowing down to appreciate every single aspect of the plant.
