A little admin/life update from me because we are officially getting VERY close.

I’ll be becoming a first-time mom the last week of September and welcoming our baby boy, Oliver!

With that being said, I wanted to give everyone a little heads-up that things around here may be a bit slower than usual over the next few weeks. Post approvals, event approvals, messages, updates, etc. may take me a little longer while I step away to have a whole baby 😂 and figure out this brand-new mom life.

BUT — we still have our amazing moderator Monica here helping keep an eye on things and keeping the group moving while I’m a little less available. 🤍 So please be patient with both of us as we navigate the next few weeks!

And PLEASE keep using the group!! Keep posting, creating events, making plans, inviting the girls to do things and actually getting out there. This community has never been about me creating every event — it works because you guys do.

I’ve poured so much love into building this community, and I’m definitely not going anywhere — I’m just about to be slightly distracted by a tiny new roommate who apparently plans on needing me 24/7.

Thank you guys for being patient with me while our little family goes through this HUGE life change.

We have Girl, You Need To Travel! too.

There are women from this community literally heading to Curaçao THIS WEEK, and we're already planning ahead for ITALY in April 2027. 🇮🇹🍷🍝

So when we say GET OUT… apparently we mean out of the house, out of the state and occasionally out of the damn COUNTRY. 😂

But the thing I love most about looking at this calendar is how many of these events were created by YOU GUYS.

These are member-run events.

You do NOT have to wait for me or an admin to plan something.

If you're sitting there thinking…

“There's never anything near me.”

“I wish somebody would do something in Mesa.”

“Where are my Tucson girls?”

“I want something closer to Surprise.”

Girl. BE THE SOMEBODY. 😂👏🏼

It doesn't need to be elaborate.

Pick a coffee shop. Go get tacos. Plan brunch. Meet for a walk. Go thrifting. Grab drinks. Find something you already want to do and create an event inviting some girls to come with you.

You don't have to know anybody already.

You don't have to be an event planner.

You don't have to entertain everybody.

You literally just have to be willing to say:

“Hey, I'm going. Who wants to come?”

That's how this whole thing works. 🤎

Okay Arizona moms, I have something really cool I want to share with you guys. 🤎

This past Saturday I got to attend the Austin launch of She Might’s Mom’s Playdate, and while I was there I learned that She Might was actually founded right there in Phoenix, Arizona. 😂

Of course it was. Apparently Arizona is just going to follow me all the way to Texas.

I honestly didn’t know a ton about She Might before going, but I got to meet the women behind it, learn more about what they’re doing, and actually experience one of their events — and I immediately thought about all of you back home.

She Might is a nonprofit built around Confidence, Clarity & Connection that supports women through unexpected pregnancy and motherhood.

They have resources for pregnancy, postpartum, going back to work, early childhood and all of the random s**t that comes along with trying to figure out motherhood. They also offer Clarity Coaching and an online community where women can connect and talk about things like pregnancy, baby care, careers, relationships, miscarriage, insurance and everything in between.

But what I got to experience this weekend was their Mom’s Playdate, and THAT is what I really wanted to tell our Arizona moms about.

Despite the name, this isn’t necessarily “take your kids to the playground and watch them play.” 😂

The whole idea is creating actual, in-person opportunities for MOMS to meet other moms, get out of the house, do something fun and hopefully make real friendships.

Our Austin launch was a bouquet bar. 💐 We made bouquets, had coffee and food, met other women, talked and exchanged numbers.

They have one coming up in PHOENIX!

I think this is hitting me a little differently right now because I’m sitting here about four weeks away from having my own baby and entering this completely new phase of life myself.

I’m SO excited to become Oliver’s mom, but I also know I’m still going to need girlfriends. I’m still going to need community. I’m still going to need things that make me feel like Heather and reasons to leave my damn house sometimes. 😂

And I know there are a LOT of women in this community who already understand that feeling way better than I do yet.

Nothing about Girl, You Need to Get Out changes because I’m sharing this. I just think one of the coolest things we can do with this giant community we’ve built is tell each other when we find something else genuinely awesome happening in our area.

I got to experience She Might myself this weekend. I loved what they’re trying to create. And when I found out it all started right there in Phoenix, there was absolutely no way I wasn’t coming back here to tell you guys about it. 😂

So if you’re pregnant, already a mom, looking for mom friends, feeling a little isolated in this phase of life, or just looking for another way to find your people — go check them out.

It may not be something every single woman here needs, but for the ones it resonates with, I really wanted you to know it exists. 🤎

Consider this your reminder that you actually have to **leave the house to make new friends.** 😂

I know. Rude.

But seriously — if you've been saying you want more girlfriends, more plans, more reasons to get dressed and go do something… this is your sign.

Go to the dinner.
Show up to the event where you don't know anybody.
Say hi to the girl standing by herself.
Make the plans instead of waiting for someone else to make them.

Adult friendships are weird and awkward and sometimes you have to be the one who goes first.

✨ Throwback to our very first Girl You Need to Get Out meetup.

Four years ago today, a handful of women who were mostly strangers met for breakfast, made succulent planters together, and spent a Saturday taking a chance on something new.

At the time, I had no idea what that one little event would become.

It wasn't really about succulents. 🌿 It was about finding people who showed up. It was about saying yes to making new friends, getting out of the house, and building community one meetup at a time.

Since then we've shared dinners, hikes, road trips, game nights, celebrations, hard seasons, and so many memories. Some of the women I've met through this community have become lifelong friends.

Looking back at this photo reminds me that every community starts somewhere. You don't need hundreds of people—you just need a few who are willing to show up.

Thank you to everyone who has ever come to an event, invited a friend, hosted something, or simply took a chance on walking into a room where they didn't know anyone.

You helped build something really special. ❤️
