WHY THIS MATTERS — ESPECIALLY FOR US
Breast cancer doesn’t impact all of us equally.
The truth about women of color:
Black women are 40% more likely to die from breast cancer than white women, despite having lower incidence rates
Black women have a breast cancer mortality rate that’s 37% higher than white women
Among women under 50, the mortality rate for Black women is nearly double that of white women
Black women are more likely to be diagnosed at a later stage and with more aggressive tumors
But here’s the game-changer: Regular mammography screening can eliminate the disparity in late-stage diagnoses between Black and white women. Early detection is our power!!
This is why the Bridge Builder Alliance Group exists. We are a haven of health, wellness, women empowerment, and support — not just a networking group. This event is our line in the sand‼️‼️‼️
THE IMPORTANCE OF PIVOTING — THIS YEAR LOOKS DIFFERENT
For 4 years, we elevated this event with vendors, speakers, fashion shows, performances. We celebrated survivors. We honored stories of trials, tribulations, diagnoses, and loss. That was beautiful. That was necessary.
But visionaries must know when to pivot.
This year, we’re removing the bells and whistles.
The focus is singular: Get women screened. Period.
