One chapter ending and another just beginning.

Senior year deserves to be remembered in a way that feels completely you! And yes, just because we live in the desert doesn’t mean your photos have to look like it.

From little in between moments, to portraits that you will look back on for years, this is what senior pictures are all about.

In all the years that I have been doing senior portraits, I have never experienced such a low number of guys getting their photos done. I don’t know if this is a new trend, but it makes my heart ache for the mamas out there wanting to have this moment remembered.
I think most guys have this vision in their head what a senior portrait session looks like, but I promise that whatever you are imagining, it’s not that.
I don’t care if you are into off roading, music, sports, working out, riding bikes. If you like to smile or you are serious. I don’t care if you’re fancy or if you wear the same worn out pair of shoes everyday. It doesn’t matter to me if you like downtown, uptown, or a ghost town. We can make anything happen.
Take the photos.
You will be so glad to look back on them one day.
And my promise to you? I won’t make you do anything you don’t want to. But we will absolutely have fun and make a cool memory.

It’s subtle.
The shift.
The change in the breeze.
The smell of the air.
The close of summertime.
The promise of a fresh season coming.
The sky looks different, if you pay attention enough.
The same mountains, same cactus, same dirt road.
But somehow the sun is different.
Or maybe it isn’t.
Maybe it’s me that’s different.
Maybe it’s the joy of knowing that everything is about to feel new again.
Maybe it’s the longing of missing what was or will never be again.
Either way, it’s beautiful.
And the light will always find its way.

Hard to believe that an entire year has passed since we were getting home from a roadtrip through Colorado. There is something about sleeping in a tent, out in the middle of nowhere, in a place you have never been, with the bare minimum and your kids. Everything feels unfamiliar and yet there is a sense of comfort and home. I love the simplicity of camping. I will never forget cooking dinner on our little gas stove and waking up with the sun, thankful to be alive. So many memories tucked away in my mind from this trip. But I think what I love most of all, when I think back to the miles we drove and the things we saw and experienced, I can see God’s hand in every moment.

I encourage you to get outside. Adventure doesn’t have to be planned or take a lot of money or even be some long trip. There is so much beauty and cool places to explore everywhere you look and often times just a few miles from home. You just have to have an eye for it.

Go and be wild.
