I took this summer to reflect on what truly matters to us. After years of pushing myself to the limit, I finally broke down and needed a moment to catch my breath. When we started this small business, our goal was to create beautiful floral designs for our community and clients who appreciate our artful style. However, I’ve learned that you can’t rush art. Many of our retail customers expected top-tier designs that were produced quickly and inexpensively, but that’s a recipe for disaster. I found myself unhappy, struggling to make ends meet, and increasingly dissatisfied with my work.

Another challenge we faced was the high cost of running a business in Arizona. Everything is imported, making it difficult to source flowers and complicating matters further due to tariffs. This situation forced me to rethink my purpose. I realized I needed to restructure my life quickly. I’ve come to understand that Plum isn’t a corporate business bound by rigid policies and procedures. We are simply two people dedicated to creating beautiful designs for the q***r community and couples looking to celebrate their love. As an artist, I believe in prioritizing fairness and kindness above all else. Despite how frightening the world feels right now, I firmly believe our little mission will endure. We may not agree with the current administration, which has introduced more challenges than I ever anticipated, but I refuse to give up! Progress comes through struggle; without it, there can be no growth, and without growth, ignorance prevails.
