Joe Corrigan, a Pennsylvania-based Democratic political consultant, said he’s not losing sleep over Casey's challenger.

Though McCormick has enjoyed relatively smooth sailing this primary season, meaning he hasn’t had to court hard-right voters, Corrigan predicted the Republican’s positions during the fierce 2022 GOP battle will come back to haunt him.

“If he hadn’t had to run in the primary two years ago, he could have probably just flown under the radar as a hedge fund manager from Connecticut who served in the military and sounded like a typical Wall Street guy,” Corrigan said. “But because he had to go head-to-head in a primary last time, he exposed himself as just as extreme as Mitch McConnell and Ted Cruz and the like.”

Pa. Sen. Bob Casey has coasted to victory in past re-election bids, but he warned supporters this year not to take success for granted.

Congratulations to our client, Neil Makhija, who will make history in Montgomery County by becoming the first Asian-American elected to a county board of commissioners in PA's 342 years. Proud to have been part of the team in the place where it all started for us!

"For moderate Democrats, the national brand is flagging. President Biden was largely elected to steady the ship, albeit without a substantial policy mandate. All the same, many expected a bit more than what they’re getting. Those surveyed also pointed to acute economic challenges that Democrats are under-emphasizing in favor of social issues that feel more remote to the moment. And there’s a general feeling that the party hasn’t yet effectively replaced the, we’re-not-Trump message of 2020, which doesn’t land as well if he’s not on the ballot."

A pair of 2021 electoral upsets may point the way to potential messaging and branding answers for candidates in battleground races this year.

"Really good consultants will help out, whether that’s with the campaign’s fundraising or field or debate prep. They’re willing to do stuff that doesn’t make them money but helps the campaign. But, of course, it also helps their reputations, and your reputation is what matters in this business."

It's possible that because I've worked around consultants like Doc Sweitzer, but I've been living by this advice for a while.

Those with long-term staying power in the campaign industry, writes Democratic strategist Marty Stone, are the consultants who actually put the client first. Making money on the product comes second.

Most of our current and past clients are women. Stories like these are both shocking and 100% believable based on the kinds of rhetoric and double-standards women in, and seeking, office deal with on a daily basis. This is just another in a long list of why it's important to continue electing women and dismantling systems that have long made abuse like this socially acceptable. We're proud of our record electing women to office and won't ever stop trying.

The alleged plan to kidnap Michigan’s governor represented an increasing level of anger and violence in U.S. politics. That violence disproportionately targets female elected officials, and particularly women of color.

"President Joe Biden’s hometown of Scranton re-elected a progressive champion as mayor in Paige Cognetti."

"Tuesday’s election should, however, inspire progressives and those who fear our democracy is in peril to rethink strategy, and reassess what truly motivates a growing and diverse electorate to exercise their right to vote."

Tuesday’s widespread GOP victory was not a bloodbath for the Democratic Party. But it should be a wakeup call.

"Cognetti herself embodies the city’s ongoing change, and is the best candidate to ensure that the city government fosters it."

Congratulations, Mayor Paige for Scranton, on earning the endorsement of The Scranton Times-Tribune for a full term!

Scranton’s focus has shifted from surviving a bleak status quo to managing change. So it’s fitting that the mayoral race itself illustrates the scope of that change. Just a generation

Yesterday, we said "see you later" to our Vice President for Finance, Madison Kaye Cofield, who ended her 2.5 years time with the firm, and 3.5 years working as Finance Director and Deputy Campaign Manager for Leanne Krueger.

Madison has been an incredibly valuable force for our clients, especially in fundraising and event planning. But much less known was her steady hand in keeping the firm's and our clients' tasks organized and moving forward, not to mention her ever-improving graphic design.

We wish Madison so much success in her sure-to-be-bright future!

Congratulations to our former client, Geoff Moulton, on being honored with the Pennsylvania Bar Association's C. Dale McClain Quality of Life/Balance Award!

State Court Administrator and Pennsylvania Supreme Court Justice Geoff Moulton was honored with the Pennsylvania Bar Association C. Dale McClain Quality of Life/Balance Award at a virtual awards luncheon during Committee/Section Day.

Presented by the PBA quality of life/balance committee, the annual award recognizes the contributions made by Pennsylvania attorneys in identifying issues relevant to balancing the professional and personal lives of their peers, as well as the progress made in assisting attorneys in maintaining and improving their overall quality of life.

The award is named after C. Dale McClain, one of the founders of the quality of life/balance committee and the 114th president of the PBA.

Appointed as Pennsylvania state court administrator by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court in December 2019, Moulton heads the Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts and oversees court operations statewide.

He is being recognized for his efforts in leading the AOPC during the pandemic, and his work to assure the safety, well-being and quality of life of lawyers, particularly those appearing in Pennsylvania courts for hearings, arguments, trials and conferences.

Prior to his current position, Moulton served as counsel to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.

From August 2016 through December 2017, he was nominated to serve as a judge on the Pennsylvania Superior Court by Gov. Tom Wolf.

Moulton’s past positions include chief counsel to a U.S. senator, chief of staff at the Office of the Special Inspector General for the Troubled Asset Relief Program, and first deputy general counsel to Wolf.

He also represented media clients in private practice and taught at Widener University Delaware Law School on subjects including evidence, criminal law, criminal procedure and professional responsibility.

Moulton earned his Juris Doctor from Columbia University School of Law in 1984.

Wisler Pearlstine announced that Courtney A. Keaveney joined the firm as an associate in its Blue Bell office, and the Philadelphia Bar Association is bringing Philadelphia’s public interest community together virtually this year for the annual Public Interest Law Day.

“This has been a 40- or 50-year project on the right to capture the courts, and I think they’ve been frighteningly successful in achieving that goal,” said Meagan Hatcher-Mays, the director of democracy policy at the liberal advocacy group Indivisible. “If you care about any issue, you should care about the courts.”

"Under Pennsylvania’s $2.83-an-hour tipped minimum wage, Baker’s colleague Debbie Aladean, 74, says she can’t retire because she has so little Social Security. Olivia Austin, a 30-year-old waitress in rural Pennsylvania, started driving across the border to a restaurant in New York, where there was a higher minimum wage, because she couldn’t save any money as a waitress in Pennsylvania. 'Most of the people I worked with could barely pay their rent,' she says."

There is an entirely separate federal minimum wage for those who live on tips: from as low as $2.13

"WITH A NATIONAL political conversation focused heavily on the 2020 presidential election, WFP and its partners remain focused on what they see as the bigger picture: wresting control of state governments, even as they organize in battleground states, like Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, that decided President Donald Trump’s 2016 win. The group believes that supporting candidates for down-ballot races can in some ways be more important than focusing on federal offices or even the White House. How well they’re able to do that alongside Democrats remains to be seen."

So far this year, Working Families Party-backed candidates were elected into more than 50 offices at the local and municipal levels in nine states.
