Club Congress is a staple in the Philadelphia electronic music scene run by DJ Matpat aka Clubby Boy. Started as a diy party in an art gallery back in 2015 it’s maintained a music centered approach mixing sounds through the roots of this culture from Philly Soul, disco, new wave, krautrock, post punk, Chicago house & Detriot techno to give context while pushing current underground house and techno music. Always keeping the vibe diy and energy underground which has gained and maintained a mixed following through out its 11 year run. You can check out live mixes from the party all the way back to 2016 on Clubby Boys Clubcast.

I have a distinct memory of being at Inciting HQ (Justin’s Legendary Warehouse Parties) in 2010, it was my first time hearing Derek Plaslaiko play & the first time I was in a room where you could tell the soundsystem was meticulously tuned, the kind of system that you can feel into your core. Plaslaiko was giving a lesson in Detriot Techno, deep, pulsating… then out of no where he dropped ‘2 Live Crew - If You Believe In Having Sex’ and it ignited the room. It was one of those moments that you have on the dancefloor that was life changing, the dichotomy of hearing such deep tracky records to then getting smacked in the face with Uncle Luke was, and is something that still inspires me. Understanding when and how to play deep & moody vs. fast, hard and in your face, underground vs. an undeniable classic.

Congrats on 20 Years Justin!

See everyone Saturday 🍾🍾🍾

Justin and Mario start at 9 :)

DJing & Production are absolutely connected, being good at one feeds into the other. Understanding how music is made makes you a better dj and understanding how records work on the dance floor makes you a better producer.
