We don’t do es**rt card tables. We did this instead…
When guests arrived at cocktail hour for Mackenzie and Joseph’s wedding at The Union League of Philadelphia, they weren’t greeted by a table with alphabetized cards and a line out the door.
They were greeted by three hotel concierge performers...full uniform. Gold buttons, bellhop caps, stationed behind a concierge desk. Each guest’s handwritten es**rt card was extended to them, personally, by hand. All THREE HUNDRED AND TWENTY of them.
We’ve been doing this long enough to know: the first five minutes of cocktail hour sets the entire emotional tone of the night. People walk in and they make a decision about what kind of evening this is going to be. We wanted Mackenzie and Joseph’s guests to walk in and immediately understand ... this is not an ordinary wedding.
Every element of their wedding was designed to feel like an experience, not every other wedding. This was the first moment guests knew that.
