The premise of the new web comedy "All Over It," set in Fishtown, sounds rather familiar. H. Jon Benjamin & Ben Sinclair lead an ensemble cast centered around one of those live/work spaces you always hear about and are like "Yeah, no." If the trailer is anything to judge by, it's like "Broad City" meets "The Real World." http://www.philebrity.com/2015/01/26/mtv-alums-shoot-new-web-comedy-about-um-the-creative-class-in-um-fishtown/

Written and directed by MTV alums Ted Pauly (himself a Philly expat; he's also the former singer of '90s indie band Haywood) and Melissa Silverman, the settings of the new web comedy All Over It sh...

Gentrification is an inevitable process for any city that's growing & revitalizing, but that doesn't mean that the artists & small business owners who start revitalizing a neighborhood need to be pushed out when the big developers come in. We experienced this at Torrent Collective, and an even more egregious case has come to our attention recently. The city is trying to seize the deed to the art studio of long-time Philadelphia artist James Dupree at 3617 Haverford Ave in West Philly to make way for a supermarket parking lot. The city is trying to comdemn his property after reportedly offering him only 30% of fair market value. We urge you to sign the petition at Change.ord to help stop this violation of his rights! https://www.change.org/petitions/jannie-blackwell-michael-nutter-return-the-deed-to-property-owners-of-3617-haverford-ave-philadelphia

We're officially closing up shop today at 938 S. 8th Street. That means THIS IS THE ABSOLUTE LAST DAY TO PICK UP BELONGINGS FROM TORRENT COLLECTIVE! If you've got furniture, equipment, clothes, flow toys or anything else here, you need to pick it up asap. Also, if you wanted to look at the bit of furniture & building supplies we still have left, please come by & get it today for real cheap. Anything else left on the premises is going to the dump, so let's try to waste as little as possible. Thanks!

EVERYTHING MUST GO!!! LAST WEEK TO BUY FURNITURE & SUPPLIES!!!
Hey Torrent fans! So this is our last week in the facility & everything must be cleared out by Monday, Sept. 30th. That means if you want to buy some furniture, building supplies, or personal items (clothes, books, tools, records, bike parts, etc.) you need to come by this week. If you've been "kinda-sorta" thinking about buying some of our larger items but you know you're realistically not going to actually come down & get it, please don't ask us to sit on it. We really need to know one way or the other who's gonna take what. In terms of transporting it, U-Haul rents trucks for $20/day & I heard it's even cheaper from Zipcar.
Also, if anyone is down to help out with our moving out process this weekend, it would be MUCH APPRECIATED! We really need all the help we can get, and we can pay you in trade - just let us know what you want!

HEY EVERYONE! As you may have heard, we're losing our space at 938 S. 8th Street as of Sept. 30th. We've got a bunch of furniture we need to sell or donate - including chairs, tables, sofas, a glass showcase, 2 stoves & 2 fridges - along with a bunch of building materials (plywood, 2x4s, paint). Let us know if you want any of it!!!

For those of you who are on Meetup.com, we've started a meetup group for the flow arts, fire arts & circus arts events we're hosting at the Torrent Collective. (Meetup tends to be a better social network for hosting regular classes & events than Facebook. We suggest you check it out.)
But don't worry, we'll also be posting them here, so stay tuned! http://www.meetup.com/Philly-Flow-Circus-Arts-Meetup/

The Philly Flow & Circus Arts Meetup is designed to bring together folks in the Philadelphia area interested in the Flow Arts and Circus Arts so they can learn and train together in a safe & supportiv
