welcomed Dr. Kenneth Yakubu — Family Physician, Research Fellow at The George Institute for Global Health, and co-lead of the Ubuntu Initiative — to the keynote stage.

Following opening remarks from Student Keynote Speaker Rwan Jaffer (Sudan), a medical student at the University of Gezira, Dr. Yakubu delivered his address, “Strengthening the Global Health Workforce: Recruitment, Retention, Capacity-Building, and Support in Underserved Communities.”

His keynote explored how social innovation and human rights frameworks can work together to build a workforce that is responsive, resilient, and rooted in the communities it serves.

Summit Day opened with an outstanding keynote from Dr. Manuel M. Dayrit — Chair of the Zuellig Family Foundation, former Secretary of Health of the Philippines, and one of the country’s most respected public health leaders.

Following opening remarks from Student Keynote Speaker Arnould Herve Tuyizere (Rwanda), a medical student at the University of Global Health Equity (UGHE), Dr. Dayrit delivered his address, “Community-Driven Health Systems: Strengthening Local Solutions for Sustainable Impact.”

Drawing on 50 years of public health experience, he highlighted the transformative Bridging Leadership model, which has empowered more than 34,000 officials across 3,000 local government units throughout the Philippines.
