Weddings have a special place in my heart, designing weddings has been truly a joy of mine.

While planning is what I do best, it truly got the best of me and I was burnt out but what never left my heart was the beauty and love story in the rooms. Taking the 2 years off was needed to come back in this capacity.

My design philosophy is simple:

I design weddings that tell a story. They evoke an emotion. From soft, romantic pastels to clean, candlelit minimalism — or bold, black-and-gold glam — each concept is artfully layered, emotionally driven, and crafted with unmatched attention to detail. And of course you know I enjoy bringing them to life with production elements too.

That’s the reason I started |c| The Creative Haus. It will allow me a space to still create and tap into the things I love.

Five years ago, I was healing—physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Battling endometriosis, preparing for a hysterectomy, and questioning everything about my health. And then, God aligned me with Khadijah of Savane Wellness.

What started as me using her products to heal from the inside out turned into purpose-filled conversations, deep sisterhood, spiritual growth & support and a full-circle moment of trust. She used her gift to heal and I used my gift to help her grow her brand—and she let me fully and did not hold back.

My sis said, Still on Plan A. That hit, cus even with a few recalls, I’m still running the same plan since 2012. Just upgraded to v3.0.

Same mission. Same girl.

Just refined, renewed, and reintroduced.

Life so chaotic and the level of peace & happiness I have; I’m starting to believe…
I might be the calm Jesus was modeling when he slept through the storm.

This version of me is so much better but so much more ruthless in a good way.

The truth is… I’ve made mistakes in business. WE ALL HAVE!
I thought I had time & forgot to change my business status which cost me tax dollars; overpayments and owing more money out the A$$!
I didn’t realize growth would require me to create systems my team could operate without me!
I made mistakes as a boss!
I’ve over-accommodated and undercharged.
I’ve failed to be clear on expectations before.
I’ve lowered my standards, skipped steps trying to “look out for my folks”, only to lose money & time in return.
I’ve scaled faster than my systems could support.
I’ve trusted the wrong people and had to pay for it—literally and emotionally.

And the truth is even in my losses in hindsight, only three clients in my entire career weren’t satisfied.
And crazy thing is not because I didn’t produce what was promised—
but because I went against my standard to survive. And I paid for it. But it’s no one else’s fault but mine.

As a business owner, I always take accountability for the decisions I made—even the ones that came from a good place but led to the wrong outcome. Real leadership means owning the part you played, learning the lesson, and doing better moving forward.

But then there is GRACE! Because turning an idea into a reality is something to clap for! Growth isn’t perfection. It’s correction. But then you have to see all the things you did right!! All the wins and how you recover from those mistakes!!

So again I ask:
Where’s the grace for small businesses?
Why do we go so hard on businesses in our communities?
Especially when they’ve done the very thing you were too scared to try?
How do you critique from the sidelines, but never got in the game. I’m
Not saying every business owner is solid but there are a lot who are, and still make mistakes!
How do we continue to demand perfection from someone still building—but God doesn’t even demand perfection from you.

To the entrepreneur who’s made a mistake—
You’re not disqualified.
You’re developing.
Give yourself space to grow, and extend that same grace to others.

Tip: Always be honest & professional, it will save you on your mistakes days!

In our class last week, the elephant in the room was PRICING & MONEY! It’s no secret this is the area we’re most ppl struggle and it’s mostly out of fear AND lack of knowledge!

So Let’s talk about the truth behind pricing!! And this applies to any industry not just events!!

Most people MISUNDERSTAND what goes into it—because they’re thinking from personal budget, not professional industry standards.

Pricing covers labor, time, talent, logistics, and more—not just a number on paper.

For Example:
Your client Needs AV in multiple rooms at different times? That’s labor. Setup crews, time constraints, equipment movement—all of that adds up. It’s no different in a restaurant, or any service industry.
These setups don’t do themselves. Labor is one of the most underestimated costs—and it’s the most essential.

Another truth:
Just because $10,000 is a lot of money to someone as a consumer, doesn’t mean it’s a lot for a high quality events/service.
Focus on what it costs professionally to bring the vision to life—the timeframe and at the level you want. But as consumers we have to stop having Chanel expectations with a target budget. Saving is a great solution!

Consumer Steps for Success:
    1.    Hire a knowledgeable, experienced planner/professional.
    2.    Communicate—don’t assume.
    3.    Be clear on your budget + flexible with your expectations.
    4.    Respect the process. It takes a team.

Planner Steps for Success:
1. Start with clarity.
Before quoting or designing anything, gather every detail: timeline, location, expectations, and budget range. Clear info = clear ex*****on.

2. Always factor in labor early.
Don’t wait until the end to add staffing costs—build it in from the beginning. Labor can make or break your budget AND your timeline.

3. Document the “unseen.”
From site visits to vendor calls to renderings—track the hours your team puts in. It’s part of the value clients rarely see but always benefit from.

4. Set boundaries with grace.
Educate your clients on what’s possible based on their budget and timeframe—then stand firm. Boundaries protect the process.
