Each week on CRAIC Radio Show, we ask our guests if there is a song they wish they had written and, if so why? We’re excited that Stereo League will perform as part of the For the Music! benefit concert this Sunday December 11th (Info here: https://tinyurl.com/2p574uu3). We posed our question to the band’s Alex Savoth, and he provided this inspired response:
“The song that I wish I had written is “Many Rivers to Cross” by Jimmy Cliff. One of my all-time favorite songs. I love the original version, but I also adore Harry Nilsson’s version which was produced by John Lennon. I think that most artists can relate to the sentiment of this song, which at a primitive level speaks to a desire for acceptance. Jimmy wrote this song after years of poorly paid tours in Europe and it was ultimately the song that landed him in the film “The Harder They Come”. A role that propelled him to stardom. Good artists always strive to push boundaries and regardless of where I’m at in my songwriting career, this song will always remind me that there’s more ground to cover and more stories to tell.”
Can’t wait for Sunday’s “For the Music!” benefit concert with a stellar line up of performances and a pop-up bar by Fergie's Pub. Full details here: https://tinyurl.com/2p574uu3

Each week on CRAIC Radio Show, we ask our guests if there is a song they wish they had written and, if so why? We’re excited that Kuf Knotz & Christine Elise HG FAM will perform as part of the For the Music! Benefit concert this Sunday December 11th (Info here: https://tinyurl.com/2p574uu3). We posed our question to Kuf, and he provided this inspired response:
BIG PUN "Still not a player"
“I remember being in the car driving through center city and hearing this for the first time and totally losing it. I was wishing I could replay it, but it was on the radio, so I had to wait until I got home and went searching for it. Everything about this song was so moving to me...the chorus was super catchy, very simple and straight to the point in a few words. The beat everyone could vibe with...smooth yet still had a hard enough beat Pun could drop lyrics on. The flow Pun used was an easy flow and painted a clear picture. This song was both street & pop, a proper balance that would amass a universal nod!”
Each week on CRAIC Radio Show, we ask our guests if there is a song they wish they had written and, if so why? We’re excited that The Tisburys will perform as part of the For the Music! Benefit concert on December 11th (Info here: https://tinyurl.com/2p574uu3). We posed our question to bandleader Tyler Asay and he provided this inspired response:
"To me, "The Whole of The Moon" by The Waterboys is the perfect song. It has everything I want: an uplifting melody, a memorable hook, heartbreaking lyrics that hit you directly, beautiful imagery, wonderfully performed and executed. It climaxes at the right times, it's subliminally very funny, and that's before the horns come in. Mike Scott's vocal shreds me to pieces, he's pushing himself to the boundaries of what a performer can do. It's one of those lost songs that feels like it should have been a bigger hit, but you can hear an entire history of the love of music emanating from it. A song Lennon & McCartney would have written if they had gotten back together. Every time I sit down to write a song, "The Whole of The Moon" is the target I am trying to hit."
Best,
Tyler

Each week on CRAIC Radio Show, we ask our guests if there is a song they wish they had written and, if so why? We’re excited that the band Archpalatine will perform as part of the For the Music! Benefit concert on December 11th (Info here: https://tinyurl.com/2p574uu3). We posed our question to bandleader; Derek Anthony Wilson and he provided this inspired response:
“Today, I say, “Over the Rainbow” as performed by Judy Garland written (possibly in 1939 or earlier) by Harold Arlen and Yip Harburg, from The Wizard of Oz.
I choose this song because it epitomizes something I deeply wish to capture in a song. It’s dreamy, æthereal, had quirky melodies, a bit melancholy, yet innocent, while painting a vivid picture of an imaginary place that even in just a daydream, exists for us in the moment. Over the years I’ve found that my dreams lead me to songs bridging the gap to my waking reality. And I’ve learned to love living in immersion in imaginary worlds like that which is painted in ‘over the rainbow’. Oh, I love that song! It was one of the songs of my early childhood.
Blessings,
Derek”

The Vance Camisa Jazz Quartet, which strives for the best in swing and bebop, draws heavily on the standards of the 1930s and 1940s, recreating the polished sounds and foot-tapping rhythms of the heyday of jazz. The ensemble will transport you to the glory days of New York’s famous 52nd Street clubs, without any hint of sounding dated or self-conscious.
The quartet’s fluidity, enthusiasm for their art and ease with their uncompromised playing style prove the timelessness of good, heartfelt jazz. Hearing the Vance Camisa Jazz Quartet helps one understand why America’s only true art form has sustained universal appeal across the generations.
