Thank you to Vetiver Oakland for graciously hosting this Laura & Anton concert (from Foxtails Brigade)on their beautiful patio. And thank you to Authentic Wine Selections for co-hosting and providing the wines that so many patrons enjoyed. Last but not least, BIG thanks to Danny and Laurel District Association for hiring A Sound Objective to handle the audio needs. Today's gig is just providing background music from a playlist at a private event for members of the Corinthian Yacht Club. Because of the way I need the sound distributed, this gig is perfect for the Tectonic Audio Labs DML500r panels, coupled with a JBL Professional . I'm also using one of my QSC mixers and a power amp.

I've never had so many people, in such a short amount of time, come over to the audio table with a mystified look of pure fascination and wanting to ask me all about these Tectonic speakers. In the first two hours six different people have now grilled me about every detail of how this technology works. Every single person has commented about how incredible it is to not have to be in a "sweet spot" for the speakers to sound amazing. They all notice that everywhere they walk the sound is the same, with no drop-off in the high frequencies. 😎πŸ’ͺπŸ€“

Using a network of concert industry professionals who travel all over the West Coast, this sound engineer is helping to rescue shelter dogs.

Good news! ROADIES AND RESCUES, is live! After 6 months of behind-the-scenes work, we are the new transport division of Second Chance Pet Rescue, 501(C)(3), Tax ID: 82-0504991! We are building a West Coast network of professional β€œroadies” from the concert industry that have been left under-employed by the loss of touring and live events. We will utilize their skills and love of travel to help rescue shelter animals! We’re working with rescue groups up and down the entire West Coast for local opportunities plus overnight, multi-state road trips. This is a GREAT reason for tour pro’s to get back behind the wheel!

In 12 months of volunteering to transport animals all around California I’ve learned so much! As more people in urban areas are working from home, they’re adopting more pets, which is great! But in rural communities where most do not work from home, shelters are euthanizing dogs and cats every day because of overcrowding and a lack of people to foster or adopt. ROADIES AND RESCUES will help save animals facing certain death in high-kill shelters by enlisting our roadie colleagues, professionals that are used to travelling as part of their normal workday, to bring animals to the safety of rescue groups in cities where they are far more likely to be adopted. Reliable, safe, humane transportation is currently the weakest link in the world of pet rescue, but it doesn’t have to be!
-
I’m SUPER-PSYCHED to embark on this journey with two awesome people; Holly at Second Chance Pet Rescue and Adoption; and my great friend of 30 years, Matt Wedgley. Holly has proven herself a mighty badass when it comes to animal rescue and running a nonprofit. She has not only rescued, fostered and cared for hundreds of dogs (despite losing her home in the 2018 Paradise fire); she has also built a great alliance with other rescue groups which has enabled placing far more dogs in furever homes. Matt, like myself, has deep roots professionally touring with bands as far back as the mid-90s. Even more timely, Matt has worked with Goldenvoice for 15 years in their transportation logistics department; managing dozens of van drivers and vehicle escorts for Coachella and other major music festivals. I AM STARTING WITH THE PERFECT TEAM! 🀩 🀩
-
Now, we need our own ROADIES AND RESCUES vehicles so I can give my two vans a break. In just the last 11 weeks of 2020 I racked up an extra 6,000 miles on my Transit Connect doing volunteer rescue transports! We also need: chemicals for sanitizing the vehicles, pet carriers, clothing, and pet bedding; p*e pads/crate liners; bite and scratch resistant gloves and sleeves; food and water dishes; pet food, harnesses, leashes, collars, etc.
-
We have a separate bank account for this branch of SCPRA and a new insurance policy covering animal transportation. We welcome/encourage/grovel/plead/harass/beg you to donate. πŸ™πŸ€žπŸ˜¬

When I decided to build several hundred feet of waterproof electrical outlet stringers for outdoor events over the last few years I never imagined the live event industry would be shut down and my gear would be sitting idle in storage. But it turns out I would still have use for all these specialty electrical boxes as a temporary donation for the barns on the Petaluma Fairgrounds where NorCal Livestock Evacuation was housing displaced animals from all over the county. Local volunteers were bringing house fans to keep the animals cool in their pens and I happened to see a request here on facebook for fans and cords. I realized that most people would not have anything more than household grade extension cords and power strips, stuff that likely would not pass an inspection for outdoor "wet" locations, especially when trying to string together 100 feet or more from a single outlet. My donation came a little late in the fire season but now that I realize this will be a need in the future I will make a point of expanding this inventory so that I have plenty available to donate in future years, even when live events are back in full swing. I also went out and bought a large 20" industrial shop fan and will eventually purchase several more exclusively for this purpose. These annual fires are just devastating to so many people and animals. Whatever we can each do to ease the burden still matters greatly.πŸ––πŸ™πŸ’ͺ

NorCal Livestock Evacuation and Support would like to give an overdue shout out to Paul, owner of A Sound Objective for going above and beyond to meet the needs of NorCal Livestock Evac and Sonoma-Marin Fairgrounds & Event Center during the . Heeding our request for extension cords and fans, Paul not only provided for that need, but went above and beyond to bring AND set up the very best and safest equipment available to keep all the animals cool and comfortable while they were evacuated. To say we were floored is an understatement. Thank you so very much, Paul and everyone else who loaned us fans and cords! We are immensely appreciative- as were the animals!!!!
